day 7 — drell
oh comic irikah the things i would do for you (ft baby kolyat)
it's dangerous to go alone. take this
I love Thane let that be aparent, but I do not think that he deserved his wife Irikah. she had a heart of gold and the way their relationship was so beautiful and the ending she got for falling in love with thane was heartbreaking and he instead of morning her, he betrays her memory by choosing revenge, by choosing to end lives and in her name, the name of someone who would rather die in place of someone she doesn’t even know.
Anyway, if you haven’t read the comics, you should totally should:)
one thing that fascinates me so much about drell romance is the fact that they remember everything about their partner. every argument they’ve had with them. every accusation they made. every lie. every fuck up. every embarrassing moment they’ve seen.
and yet they love their partners.
thane/irikah, either "hugging while straddling the partner" or "kissing each other breathless"?
Damn I saw your post about Thane having a bookstore and this just tumbled out of me SEND HELP
- - - -
It was a rainy evening when Irikah made her unannounced stop to his bookstore. She was a regular - to some extent. Always on different days, always at odd hours. That night it was just before closing. She was dressed in her usual practical style - perhaps too practical. Too many reinforced weaves, too much black. Comfort was not part of her wardrobe, it seemed. Thane had his suspicions about how she earned her living.
She wandered the shelves as she always did. To her credit, she usually spent some money in his shop. She romantic thrillers, novels young adult readers often gravitated toward. Irikah dodged all attempts at personal conversation. He'd learned to know her through her reading - and even then he often laid awake at night wondering what hid behind her beautiful golden-hued eyes.
Today she was eyeing up his latest arrivals.
"The Light of her Stars..." Her fingers trailed along the neatly aligned bookspines. "The one about the two asari on the run from an oppressive government?"
Thane looked at her from over his work. "It is a popular release."
"It must be, if it's been printed on paper."
He watched her cerulean fingers tip the book out from it's row on the shelf and turn it over in her hands. She studied the back carefully.
"I also heard it's a very... scandalous tale." Her voice trailed off as she wandered toward his checkout counter.
"Scandalous tales are in high demand," he said matter-of-factly. It was the truth. This novel in particular was well enjoyed by adult readers. Customers had started asking for it even before he'd heard about it.
"Have you read it?"
He only briefly considered lying to her - it would do him no good. They we're both adults, after all. Thane met her eyes, acknowledging the suggestion in her voice with shy smile.
"Yes, I have."
Irikah's brows rose, her body shifting into a stance that relayed her smug amusement as she leaned over the counter. He fought to retain his nerves, reaching for his tea to calm himself - she was so close he could smell the rugged, feminine scent of her.
"...and do you recommend it?"
The depths of her eyes seemed lit from within. He breathed deeply, wanting to step back to regain his senses and yet enthralled by her closeness.
Irikah had the aura of a woman who'd doomed quicker-witted men than he. But he swallowed his fear, met her eyes and answered her question with all the courage he could muster.
"No."
She looked taken aback, and he continued before she could voice her indignation.
"I have another I believe you may be more intrigued by."
"Oh?"
Thane stepped around the counter and gently took the book from her hands.
"It's about two drell, if you can believe it. One is a beautiful woman with eyes like sunset-"
She was on him before he could finish his statement. Her lips met his and his world spun with incredulous desire.
She would slip away before long. In all their oddly-timed meetings, all he'd learned of her was her name. He wasn't even sure it was her real name.
He would spend the rest of his evening recalling the warmth of her hands, the hot slide of her tongue against his. The next time she visited his shop, he resolved to make her just as breathless.
canon drell? like characters from canon? if so, does that include irikah? :D
Irikah is definitely on my mind! I've been brainstorming designs for a few months now (well, to be fair it hasn't been that long, because I barely touched my computer in the summer, due to the relentless heatwaves), just none of them have clicked for me, yet.
But yes, Irikah is coming, but she'll get her own post, 'cause she deserves to shine! :>
Not as eventful as the others, we were pretty tired. She made me a headpiece out of fishing line and seashells that Kol found on the beach.
She pulled me into her lap and kept working but I couldn't do it. >.<
Things that make me sad: Thane refers to Irikah as having "sunset-colored eyes" and my Thanemance Shep is named Summer so they're both associated with the sun and warmth and just ughhhh
