I would love to tell you more about her!

She's a newer character in the Tales of Series crossover JP mobile game: Tales of the Rays! This new story arc, Recollection, has only been out for a few months now and is largely still a mystery! There's still a lot it has to tell us about the new characters and the plot, but what we have so far is already really interesting!

Let's talk about what we know about Iris so far! On the surface you have a colorful, popular idol that loves to sing and raise people's spirits! She genuinely cares about others and will leap before she thinks when someone is hurting or in danger. And she's no pushover in battle either!

Now let's get into some deeper aspects of her character and why she's in this situation under the cut!

Iris lost her grandfather and her voice to the attack of an enemy known as a wraith. These creatures are known for maiming and disabling people, and have driven humanity to near extinction.

Thus, Iris's voice is artificial, and she must keep up maintenance on it to get the sound she wants. She despises wraiths for killing her grandfather and seeks to eradicate them. She also personally doesn't particularly like her artificial voice and struggles to accept it.

Nonetheless, her grandfather loved beautiful things while he was alive, and once told Iris her voice was beautiful and he loved it. Such a compliment from someone who appreciated beauty left a strong impression on Iris and made her very happy.

This is why she continues to sing despite the state of her voice and the dire situation humanity is in. For her grandfather, and for the people who find some measure of happiness from her music.

Though she finds herself thinking: If only they could go back in time to the past and destroy the wraiths at their source...

And perhaps. Her idea isn't so impossible after all.
