My brain has gone on a journey today. My sister and I recently had a conversation that included our love for the movie Mr. Right, which is an amazing action romcom starring Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell, as well as the fact that Sam Rockwell was in consideration to play Tony Stark in the MCU before he was cast as Justin Hammer. 

Sam Rockwell as Tony Stark: cursed

My brain, combining the knowledge that Rockwell can play an appealing romantic lead with my love of frostiron:

Me, after I remember that comic!Justin Hammer was British, I once had the idea of a Hiddleston!Hammer fancast, and I've read Tony Stark/Justin Hammer fic that I actually enjoyed:

I’m reeling bc I never did read it but literally every nerd friend I had in Spain growing up did, it never occurred to me that it wasn’t an international thing lol

lmao I don’t actually know how we happened to get it, but it was in bookshelves when I went looking (the third book came out after i started) and it was by best friend’s favourite book. it’s just??? like so good compared to what else was out at the time???? i mean holy shit. also I remember being obsessed with the snakes cause i had a different ya book i loved that had one of those but like more “drunken pirate uncle” personality

Goodsir can’t turn his anatomy!brain off during sex, helped along by a lot of the bits that get significant play during less-than-100%-perfunctory sex being hard to mention in polite conversation but a lot easier to describe and conceptualize in Greek and Latin, and if Hickey knew he would be unbelievably scandalized. Imagine Goodsir taking a five-minute time-out in the middle of sex to explain what the prostate is and where it’s located, if not precisely how it’s relevant to the current goings-on, just because human anatomy is a marvel. Imagine.

The flippant answer to that is that they get what the fandom wants, which they showed by taking a book that’s, like, at most 20% about Crowley and Aziraphale, and putting them front-and-fucking-centre in the trailer (and possible the series?). Accompanied by Freddie Mercury’s You’re my best friend in the background. I mean, that alone feels like the trailer sprouted forth straight from the collective fandom hive mind. They’re giving the fans of the book exactly what they want, in that respect.

But I actually was talking about the bits they added, that aren’t in the book. They seem to have fleshed out a lot of Crowley and Aziraphale’s background, which I really approve of. It’s a sign that they think their relationship is important and they want to spend time developing it, which is nice. That, and the bits that are in the book are lovingly shown as well (the plants! nuns! queen!), which, again, shows love for the source material. 

I’m personally still a bit squinty about Aziraphale, though. For me, it was kinda the only false note in an otherwise great trailer - he was a bit too fussy, too goody-goody. I really hope they do get the thing where it’s actually Aziraphale who’s the bastard and Crowley who’s the Anxious Mess - but it’s only like a few seconds of footage so a lot can happen there.

So on the whole, I’m v happy here.
