It's day 10 of the worldbuilding challenge!

10 Events: Ceremony

Day of Victory is celebrated on 2nd of December every year in Gomene, symbolising their liberation from the hands of the dwarves. Even though the fall of the Dwarven Empire is dated to the first of January, Gomenians like to celebrate in december as that is the day the dwarven forges and siegemachines were burned down by dragon fire, and the city was free after 850 years.

They like to gather right outside the main city gates and set fireworks alight, dancing and socializing, and around dinnertime go to the old graveyard and pay respects to the people who died in the battle. It's considered the greatest socializing event of the year.

Worldbuilding Challenge: introduction

that should’ve been done in December but I did it in January and I’m posting it in April

I’ve found this image on r/worldbuilding which seemed superbly cool, and I was looking to do some cool monthly challenge starting the 2021. so this was the perfect match.

After the first three days I have focused exclusively on the city Gomene, the capital of the Duchy, and it’s many colorful traditions and prolific inhabitants.

I’ll be posting one day per day, I hope that you’ll enjoy it, perhaps find some inspiration and give feedback <3

Day 6!

Sixth day of the worldbuilding challenge!

6 Religion: God

The most important god for Gomene is Vecna, The Long Handed, as the legend say he's the founder of the city and many of his demigod children have taken part in building the city over the last three millenia. For example, Climaco Martinelli, in 11th century B. L. has worked with Dwarves to build two of the three bridges that landmark the city today. Many workshops, guilds and other craftsmen pay respects to him and offer sacrifices to improve their skill. He has no verbal prayers, but it said that he provides strength to finish creating something while you're hard at work.

Day 11

It's the 6+5th day of the worldbuilding challenge! Proof I can *try to* be funny! References are funny, guys, right? It's a capitalists world, and we're just living in it.

11 Myth: Fairytale

The Dog of Brick Avenue is the tale of a small dog, named Leo, who is at first a stray in the Brick Avenue(the place where nobles trade their land and goods with merchants and vice versa), and then is noticed by a skinny, overly dressed merchant who introduces him to the world of making predictions. estimating values and persuasion. Leo then starts his own merchanting guild and manages to trick most of the city nobles into selling their estates, and once they bring their own troops to try and retake them, he buys them too.

Day 8!

Eight day of the worldbuilding challenge! This is the first mention of something like warforged in my world, if there is interest I'll make a special post about their history later.

8 People: Secrets

One of the families which are very famous but very little is actually known about them is the Tamburo clan. They have three branches, and all of them have a seperate head, which convene once a year to discuss the family business. They are famous for their mercenaries in the last 500 years and their skill with engineering, but no one has actually met one of their mercenaries. That is because their personal army is actually made out of quasi-warforged soldiers, which they always have at least 50 on standby. They are not as powerful as Dwarven Warforged, but they can more than stand up in a fight against other humanoids. The Claw and the Queen know about them, but have made many deals so they can both profit from their Automatons, e.g. they are used to train professional Claw assassins.

Day 2!

The second day of the worldbuilding challenge is here! This one is very short since I was still recovering from a New Years Eve party with my girlfriend. Sorry about the same image as last time, I don’t have the editing skills to make it look good enough :(

2 Everyday Life: Weekends There are no days off in Eglasian worklife, but, people like to dedicate weekends to "non-material" pursuits; building friendships, planning, offering commune with the gods, and generally spending time with their family in a productive way.

Here’s the map of the Eglasian Empire done in Inkarnate. It’s a work in progress since I’ve mostly focused on the Duchy of Gomene, but criticism is welcome!

Day 25!

This one is a very messy one, I didn't want to tidy it up so I don't ruin the original experience I wanted to give, but damn, I am NOT making myself easy to understand.

25 History: Lost Arts

Long ago, some 2 thousand years, there stood a magnificent display of human architecture that could rival those fortresses of dwarves. Vecchia Galleria, the grand gallery of the Gomenian people, is the place that kept the most prized paintings of the Gomenian Dukes. They were very expensive just to look at, and the duke didn't decorate his castles with them, nor hang them on the walls of the ballrooms he held his parties in, for they were magical in nature. If you see them out with the corner of your eyes, you'd notice they are moving and flowing while still depicting perfectly whatever it is they would be depicting. If you looked at them straight on, you would be transported into the world of the painting, looking the otherwordly beauty of duchess Una Leccata, staring at the canyons of the Tolfiskali river. The dwarves would burn the entire place down during their sack of the city, and from then on no further piece of magical painting like those would be painted, for the artists are long dead. Some say the painting method is in some way connected to the cursed mirror Re de Ratti is trapped in, but all attempts to recreate such effects would be met with the swift response of the Irora International Unspeakables.

24 History: Traditional

Themes: City, Juice, Laser

The traditional stewed banana ceremony is done every morning in more "old-fashioned" families. Before breakfast making, before any coffee, every member of the family gathers in the living room, and the head of the house, usually the person who devoted less time to work, would activate the ancient stewing machine. The machine would use several tiny magic rays to cut up and mix the peeled bananas using the energy the central city power stone provided. They would then serve the extract to the gathered family, starting with the oldest and going through to the youngest. Once it is all served, the family member down the cups in one gulp and yell "WIN!". They then start attending to their days and tasks.
