Ever since I read that amazing HalBarry fanficition (you know what I'm talking about!) I became the fan of that idea so much!!

a tiny drabble in which spencer doubts his proclaimed genius abilities, and you assure him he has nothing to worry about..

spencer wasn’t a confident guy. yes, he sometimes relished in his intelligence, and yes he outwardly presented that side of himself. but, spencer never really felt, smart?

because smart and intelligent to spencer, was different. because intelligence was technical, and technically, spencer was intelligent.

but smart.. smart was how people viewed spencer. and was spencer sure if people viewed spencer as smart? no, he was not.

spencer was pretty sure everyone viewed him as annoying, rather than smart. everyone brushed off his facts, ignored and rolled their eyes at his rants.

everyone, except you.

you listened, always.

and not just casually listened, you did so actively. engaged, asks question, thinks about his words spinning out of his mouth.

and he appreciated it, deeply.

so when spencer was feeling down about his smarts, he always went to you.

because, you were also amazing at giving advice.

and today was no different, the two of you sat in the living room in his apartment.

you let him talk first, he lists off all of his thoughts that were occupying every corner of his mind.

and then you reassure him. you tell him that there is no one you’ve ever met who is as intelligent as he is.

your simple, yet touching words bring him immense amounts of comfort he didn’t know he was capable of feeling.

he didn’t t know he was deserving.

but you always remind him he was.
