I believe that by now there's no need for me to be introducing any one of you to this TV series because I think it's already well-known, at least for those who might be reading my blog, so I'm just gonna go straight to my impressions.
Even though Love, Simon is a nice movie, I love this series more. When I just started watching it, I wasn't immediately into it, but as I kept watching, I started liking it more and more. I think the series is great at progressing the story and characters because I find it has more depth than Love, Simon (which is also due to the fact that it’s a TV series and not a movie so there’s a lot more space for the characters and story to grow). Even though it has that youngish Hollywood style and approach to it, the themes it involves are IMO quite bigger than the young-adult audience it mainly targets, so older people can also enjoy it. It’s a little bit more realistic approach to the gay theme in comparison to Love, Simon, but it doesn’t go over the top in showing problems so it doesn’t get too depressing for the young LGBT people who might be watching it. All in all, I think it handles the problematic themes with great care and the characters are so lovely! I actually ended up liking all of them in their own way, they are very interesting and I find each of their stories pretty unique.
Younger LGBT generations nowadays can be glad that they have such a nice and positive series that they can grow up with, it wasn’t the case for many of us in the past.
Rating: 5/5
