The greatest guy ever!
I’m always so scared of going to the hairdresser because what if I end up looking stupid or not masculine or not feminine or too one thing or too the other or the picture I chose as a reference is impossible for my hair type I hate having really poofy and curly hair why can’t it look like that cool choppy look guys have or look super androgynous and why am I so scared of telling the professional who knows more than me about hair what I think is wrong and what even is wrong I don’t know I can’t put that into words I just hoped it would look different on me but is that look on me even possible I hate going to the hairdresser and how scared it makes me I feel like I look stupid

also, kudos to Leverage for showing that abuse isn’t just physical, isn’t something that happens only to those not strong enough to fight back
They do really well with this kind of understated subtext. It's obvious, and feels more real even for the fact that no one necessarily says it out loud. The rest of the team is there for Eliot, and don't judge him for his fear or for getting abused. Sure, they get mad at him for not telling them sooner, but once they see how afraid he was they understand.
It reminds me a little of Parker's panic after the psychic guy coldreads her in S2. And the team's reaction is so kind to her, so well-suited to helping her specifically process this. Or just in general - they don't all have the best coping methods (lookin' at you Nate) but they tend to respect one another's triggers or traumas. The only time they react poorly is when it puts the rest of the team in danger.
Eliot has been abused, Nate's an alcoholic, Parker has trust issues (I mean they all do to some extent, but), Sophie has identity issues, Hardison.... is wonderful support for everyone and doesn't have a lot of trauma actually.
They never look down on one another for any of it, aside from getting pissed at Nate for putting them at risk or whatever. Sophie leaves for a long time and they support her doing so if that's what she needs despite clearly missing the hell out of her. They all go after Parker multiple times to offer her support and prove it doesn't have to be just her anymore, and Hardison waits so patiently for her to decide she is ready to make the first move towards a romantic relationship. They make many attempts over the course of the series to help Nate with his drunkenness. And they accept Eliot's confession of doing terrible things in service of Moreau and his deep terror of both the man who led him to that and of them seeing him differently after finding out just what it was. They are just so good at respecting one another's boundaries and giving support where the person is ready to receive it. They aren't perfect of course, but they try so hard.
...this kinda went away from your point, which I also agree with a lot! Strong, capable, repeatedly shown to never stop getting back up - Eliot is a tough guy. He's intelligent and deadly in a fight, can take care of himself and his team both. None of that stopped him from being a victim of abuse, because it wasn't due to any internal or physical weakness on his part. And yeah, Moreau never needed to lay a finger on him to do so. And they just show this and move on, and I really like that.
I’m debating moving Marine Week up to like March so we can have something good for this already terrible start to a year.
Opinions?

Overall Reaction to Part 2
That’s it? .... That’s it. I’m feeling like I just watched Netflix’s Castlevania. Granted I don’t see how I could extend this part, just based on the story, maybe make Lucia going to her contacts into a solo map where in the end is a surprise. End up mirroring part one that way, as well.
Anyway.
What the writers have done with the story progressing is rather interesting. In Part 1, you were are part of the righteous rebellion against corrupt, abusive rule. In part 2, you are on the side of the righteous ruler fighting the power-hungry, undeserving rebellion. It’s an interesting story flip and makes me wonder which side the narrative is going to place me on for part 3.
However, remember what I said about the support system back in my other post? Lodging another complaint. What good is a support system if you can’t use it? You completely switch what characters you use so often between chapters that there’s no time to establish supports between any of them the way the mechanics want you to. Even if I could pre-fill them in, there’s not enough chapters that each character is in long enough to actually get anyway beyond C rank. Maybe if I had save data to use from PoR there’s be some pre-filled, but I kinda doubt it. The characters aren’t all that hurt from being constantly shifted back and forth, because they are all at decent levels ad only improve (fight like ten men) as you use them.
In terms of managing my bxp, it felt like I didn’t get a carry over of the bxp that I collected from part 1 into part 2, so I decided to blow what bxp i had on making sure that everyone in the endgame went up a level or two. We’ll see in part three what the number is and if my 1 remaining bxp point has transfered over. If it does, then, okay cool I know better for later, and if not, well that’s a bit shitty, ain’t it.
