Women should be able to have requests for only women doctors and healthcare workers respected
"Harry Potter" author JK Rowling slammed "gender activist" doctors for arguing women shouldn't demand female-only doctors for some of their
J.K. Rowling slammed a pair of doctors for arguing that it is "psychotic" and "disgusting" for disabled women to demand female doctors for their intimate healthcare Sunday.
Rowling weighed in on a Twitter debate regarding women's care in which a number of individuals claiming to be doctors argued women's rights advocates are "psychotically hung up" on fighting gender ideology.
"Intimate touching without consent is sexual assault," Rowling wrote. "A self-proclaimed doctor says it's ‘psychotic’ for disabled women to assert the right to female-only intimate care."
"I'm praying he's not actually an MD, just a standard misogynist here to troll, but either way," she added, followed by a series of red flag emojis.
Many agreed with Rowling's statement, however, weighing in to say it is perfectly reasonable for women to prefer female doctors for some of their care needs.
"How can anyone even have an issue with this?" one user replied to Rowling. "In my early adult life I worked at retirement homes. If certain old ladies only wanted females to shower them or help with post-toilet hygiene, then it's just "okay ma'am lemme get one of the girls."
Rowling has quickly asserted herself as one of the most prominent critics of gender ideology in popular culture, despite fierce backlash and even threats from the movement's proponents.
The world-famous author of the "Harry Potter" book series continues to use her platform of 14.5 million Twitter followers to argue that biological sex cannot be ignored.
Rowling has raised eyebrows for weighing in on the touchy subject since before 2020 when she argued "it isn't hate to speak the truth" about gender.
"If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction," Rowling tweeted at the time. "If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth."
I find the differences between men and women so fascinating. Both sexes have something to bring to the table and we’d both be worse off without the other (yes I include men in this, I believe we’re all equal with different qualities).
I’ve been watching Bear Grylls “the island” where after season 1 they started doing mixed sex survival. What stood out to me was how differently men and women tackled the situation, women trying to work together and negotiate and always at least one man declaring himself alpha male and trying to dictate what everyone else should do. This “alpha” was normally revolted against after a while and a natural leader or a democratically elected leader emerged instead (man or woman) and harmony eventually ensued.
What I found the most fascinating though, was that the biggest and strongest men initially went all out and ran themselves into the ground trying to provide for the rest of the group. They were desperate to prove themselves the hero or the alpha and after only a few days these men lay exhausted and whimpering on the sand. The biggest muscly men were always the ones to succumb to starvation first and more than once the women of the group (who were not affected by starvation as badly due to their natural body fat distribution and lower calorie needs) ended up going out looking for water or hunting etc to bring these men back from the brink.
Men seem to have a natural instinct to want to provide and be seen as the hero, for which I adore them, but they tend to put others needs ahead of their own which tends to be their fall. They’re also sprinters not marathon runners and they use up all that explosive energy in a short space of time. This is (in a survival situation) where the women pick up the slack.
If I’ve ever seen an analogy for how much women and men need EACHOTHER this is by far my favourite
(There are of course also the men who are willing to throw all the ones they perceive as weaker to the wolves and start a “the strongest survive”-camp. This plan normally crumbles though as most of the other men want to collaborate as a group and include everyone, even the physically weaker. I believe humans have a natural instinct to want to stick together as everyone has something to contribute.)
We’re living through the most misogynistic period I’ve experienced. Back in the 80s, I imagined that my future daughters, should I have any, would have it far better than I ever did, but between the backlash against feminism and a porn-saturated online culture, I believe things have got significantly worse for girls. Never have I seen women denigrated and dehumanised to the extent they are now. From the leader of the free world’s long history of sexual assault accusations and his proud boast of ‘grabbing them by the pussy’, to the incel (‘involuntarily celibate’) movement that rages against women who won’t give them sex, to the trans activists who declare that TERFs need punching and re-educating, men across the political spectrum seem to agree: women are asking for trouble. Everywhere, women are being told to shut up and sit down, or else.
By 2018, JK Rowling helped save 50,000 children from physical and mental abuse, child trafficking and sexual violence. Why do we never talk about the good.
Anyone who can possibly take issue with this is either experiencing some extreme cognitive dissonance & denial or is being wilfully ignorant. She literally just said sex is real. It’s just that simple. Sex is real. Sex is not an illusion. Sex is not a choice. Sex-based oppression is real and saying sex isn’t real robs women of the ability to have these wrongs made right.
Even if you subscribe to gender identity politics, this is the same concept as needing to recognize that gender identities are real in order to confront discrimination based on them. She literally said she still supports trans people; i.e there is a way to accept both sex and sex-based oppression and gender identities and discrimination based on them. You are attacking her for A) Being logical B) Recognizing the reality of biological sex and sex-based oppression and C) Recognizing gender identities and discrimination based on them AKA SUPPORTING YOU.
Recognizing reality and fact is not violent but trying to erase the female existence IS. If you attack anyone who says sex is real, you are being violent toward women. You are attacking women for reminding you that they were born female, they did not choose to be female, and they face oppression and discrimination and violence based solely on the fact that they were born women. You are trying to silence them for your own comfort, at the expense of their safety. And if you do that, you are not worthy of the respect and support you demand from others, and you deserve the insane backlash you unleash onto others.
