Eiichiro Oda [ISTJ]*
Introverted Sensing [Si]: Oda has been working tirelessly on the same series for years. He follows Akira Toriyama’s footsteps in many ways - adopting the same “action/drama with humor throughout” formula, modeling Luffy after Goku, and he even says he wants to go the same route after finishing One Piece and make short stories. He frequently cites his old interests as his inspiration for his current story (reading about vikings, etc). When he does allow himself a break, he messes around with sensory things like the objects on his desk. He has a keen sense of how to make something look good and he can adapt to a multitude of different styles when he wants to (as shown in his color spreads).
Extroverted Thinking [Te]: The crazy work ethic is very apparent in this guy. He has a strict schedule he keeps himself to and he works on everything from start to finish. He has a hard time taking breaks because he wants to get things done. While Oda won’t change certain things about his work, there are techniques he adopts for more popularity and better sales (going off of Dragon Ball’s successful formula, and also his gradual exaggeration of female characters could point to this).
Introverted Feeling [Fi]: Despite complaints about One Piece’s style being too “weird,” Oda didn’t change it much at all. His characters are very Fi, including the main protagonist, who uses his moral compass to make his decisions and pours everything he has into them. This can reflect onto the creator himself, since he’s sacrificed a lot to be an esteemed mangaka. Oda says he doesn’t really have a message in mind for One Piece - it’s all up to interpretation! He doesn’t like to work with people unless he really respects them.
Extroverted Intuition [Ne]: Oda has taken from various sources and implemented certain aspects into One Piece that aren’t typically found in other manga (such as making an entire Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired arc). He has plenty of ideas for the series, but says that he has to stick to a few or else risk the manga running too long… obviously he still has trouble with this!
* While I’ve been to Kumamoto City where he lives, I’ve never gotten the chance to meet Oda so obviously this was all done off of interviews/his work. You could say he’s a Ni/Se user with how determined he’s been towards his goal since a very young age, but I went with Si/Ne since he doesn’t deal with abstractions as much as a Ni-dom would.
Normally I don’t like to apply MBTI to real people because- well, people in reality don’t tend to follow the patterns in this system so much. (I can tell you there are patterns, but there’s also a whole lot of exceptions.) But I wanted to switch things up a bit.

INTJ: You're so aggressive. INTJ (me): Me? Aggressive? ISTJ: YES all the time INTJ: Constantly. All the time. INTJ (me): but, only occasionally, right? INTJ: ALL THE TIME ISTJ: CONSTANTLY INTJ (me): not, not aggressive, just flamboyant. Eccentric. ISTJ: You're aggressive. INTJ (me): But, like, aggressively eccentric. ISTJ: that's a nice way to put it.
