Theorizing about the Knights of Guinevere tonight, and was combing through the episode again, trying to really look at all the repetitive themes and visuals in the show; and it got me thinking about why exactly these two characters were picked to be knights? Like, was it fate like Guinevere suggests in the opening? Chance? Desperation?
Before Guinevere meets our protags, she’d been suffering for a long time. She’d probably tried to escape time and time again, and either ‘Security’ caught each time, or her attempts were foiled by more and more chains and restrictions and torture being done to her.
But like at the beginning of the introduction, Guinevere has one thing going for her; she can’t die. The company won’t let her die. Therefore, she can use the tools meant to chain her as weapons for her freedom.
What do I mean when I say this?
Well, recall how each of the Guinevere androids has a sort of hivemind cloud where they catalogue each guest interaction so they can share it with each other whenever the guests move around the park?
Betcha there’s more than just basic guest data in that cloud. >:)
Considering the theming of the show being how big corporations want to own and control you, wouldn’t it make sense to store facial, bio, and personal data of each guest in the Guinevere cloud? And since Guinevere recognizes our protags using her facial recognition software and cameras, I’d put money in her knowing a hell of a lot more about our cast than she lets on.
And boy… that’s actually a crazy thought.
Like, imagine Guinevere looking through thousands of not millions of profiles of guests, trying to parse who might be able to help her escape for good, and runs the risks through her state of the art AI simulations, and comes up with these two kids being her best hope? It makes total sense! She plays the ‘injured’ part real hard, gets everyone to lower their guards, befriends our crew, then sneakily reveals she’s a lot stronger than anyone knew, she just needed the right ‘key’ to be delivered to her to escape.
So in this case, it’s more like Guinevere did the math to figure out not only who could help her, but would actually see her for who she was and would help no matter what. (Much like a knight’s job is supposed to be.)
Anyways, it’s 4am now, thanks for listening to my rambles, I can’t remember where I was going with this post, but tldr: Guinevere is very smart princess and figured out how to find people who could help her via her massive cloud databank of park guests.
