the concept of eddie having his “in love with buck?” conversation with chim to parallel the one buck had with maddie is so real to me
ohh my boys <3
i'm sooo normal abt them...
Again...please please be patient! It's barely been a week since the new chapters, and if ideas come, they'll come!
I know folks are just excited; the new chapters were exciting! Just man even with having the time to soak in the new stuff, it's still just taking a long time to stew in my brain.
If there is, that would be up to someone else to make, not me. It likely already exists considering Undertale's been around long enough for it. Just not something I'm going to do myself.
Thanks very much for the kind words, and I'm very glad that you're enjoying it! I know I'm definitely the hardest on myself in terms of finishing stuff, and Eldritchrune has ended up becoming way bigger than I anticipated. Will do my best to pace things as I can!
LOTR vs The Hobbit? Which I prefer and why
As anyone who follows me might've noticed, I've been obsessing over lord of the rings and the hobbit movies lately (still haven't read the books....but I'll get to that too eventually). And, for as many thoughts and opinions I have for these trilogies, I don't think I've ever talked here about my hottest take on them yet. And by hot take I really just mean a personal subjective opinion that I haven't seen enough people who watched the movies share.
So, I'm pretty sure most people, almost everyone actually, prefer the lotr over the hobbit movies and understandably so. Like yeah, it makes sense people focus more on the big epic trilogy that also happens to be an adaptation of Tolkien's main story, one that's about the potential end of the world of middle earth. You know, big stakes and stuff. Certainly bigger than in the more fairytale-esque story of the hobbit, even when the movie's changed and added a lot of things into the story of the single book to make a whole movie trilogy out of it.
And it's also true that the quality of the lotr movies' production is no less than the best cinema has to offer. Also, it was the original trilogy, the one that came first and the one most people grew up watching and fell in love with first. And, though cgi technology is much more advanced in the hobbit, there's an undeniable beauty and charm to the effects and cinematography used in those earlier films that make them an all-time classic.
The thing is, yes, I know all that. I am aware that there are a million different valid reasons to prefer the lotr over the hobbit and I understand why most people feel that way. However, I myself, despite loving both trilogies very dearly, have always had a preference for the hobbit films. There's just something about them that speaks to me on a more personal level than the original trilogy. I find a certain charm in it that for me exceeds that of the lotr.
Maybe I'm just drawn to fantasy with lower stakes that's more character driven. Or maybe it's because I watched that trilogy first, back when it had just come out, and I'm biased about it. Or maybe it's because I find Bilbo to be a more compelling protagonist than Frodo (which is an opinion I'll actually fight people about because, at least for the movies, it's basically an objective truth). Or maybe I just have a thing for origin stories and prequels. You know, things that chronologically came first. I just love seeing how things turned out the way they did, as well as understanding the plot of a story in more context. And prequels are perfect for achieving that and I think, despite me only recently realizing it, they've always had a special place in my heart, and grow more on me than the main story most of the time. You can always count on me liking a prequel more than the sequel, because prequels feel more fundamental and foundational than whatever comes after them. There's something so special to me about knowing the starting point that leads to the main events of a story.
So, though I'm very much aware that there are valid reasons to like lotr more and it's probably natural to do so, I too have my reason for preferring the hobbit. And I was wondering how many other people feel this way and how many of those always feel the need to justify that less likely preference to other fans.
