Been trying to be kinder to myself about my art while recovering from my surgery and also got back into pokemon. Which meant that I once again redid one of the pictures I drew after I played Legends Arceus which, oddly enough, means that I have redone this picture three times. I didn't think this was important or that there would be much of a change but I was surprised and wanted to show you guys.
This was the first one from 2023 that I did after playing Legends Arceus for the first time with my character (Artemis) and her Alpha Luxray named "Thor" who is just a really big girl I love to pieces.
This was the second one I did either last year or the year before. Already a huge amount of progress between the two of them. More details on the character, slightly fluffier fur on Thor and easier/more consistent scarring on the human and pokemon both.
And finally the most recent one that I did last week. More modern to fit with the new game with extra details because I could (ignore I forgot to color the water bottle). The POV is more consistent, closer with varying line sizes, scars that actually make a bit more sense, more comfortable clothes that actually seem to fit with the character. Thor is even fluffier, has the same scars as before and now has an accessory of her own that she wears and ties her to her trainer.
In a way it's like a story is being told not just through the progress of my art but through the stories itself. The first one looks tense and awkward with Thor trusting it's trainer while Artemis looks unnerved around the large pokemon still.
The second one shows a human and pokemon with equal amounts of trust but also a type of exhaustion, like they think they're journey together is almost done.
Then, the third shows their journey hasn't ended but has instead continued throughout time itself. A new adventure, a new place, a new mission. A connection built on pain, trauma and loss but also love, trust and understanding. Loyalty to one another few other Trainers know and experience in their lifetimes.
Anyways! I just wanted to show off the progress here :3 because I had no idea how far I'd come until I saw the other two and my brain couldn't understand that it was all the same two characters. But, here they are! Look at my babies!
