Ugh.

People loving each other earnestly enough that even the most estranged cousin with eighteen piercings, an anarchy tattoo, and mohawk gets a twinkle in their eye when they send a meme to the Fam Squad Goals group chat and always shows up for corn hole in the backyard on Sundays.

People wearing matching family reunion shirts proudly out at Walmart shopping for stuff for green bean casserole and cupcakes they plan to decorate in a way that makes everyone laugh at an in-joke 30 years old at this point.

Laughing around a bonfire into the AM about how your mom nearly killed your sister that one time 7 years back canoeing down Spring River when someone very much did not explain to her that those sweet drinks she was facing were in fact 10% abv. All twelve of you having heard that story as many times as you've told it yourself still finding it endearing and hilarious.

Honestly. Makes me kinda sad. I get upset around the holidays, usually. I think about what family I've had in my life and get a bit bummed. There were good times, yeah. I try to remember those. I've honestly never had that kind of experience though. It's incredible to me.

This isn't a sad post tho.

I love it when I see it. It lifts my spirits to see someone happy like that. Doesn't matter whether or not I'm involved. Doesn't matter if I'm in the group chat. I'm thrilled to see that love in the world and I'm exploding with pride and joy that I've witnessed it.
