Three-month-old Nusu already has the bravado of a full-grown bull — as a rather surprised group discovered yesterday when the half-pint-sized baby decided to show them who was boss! • This scene is only a reality through our Orphans' Project. We rescued Nusu's mother, Nasalot, as an orphan when she herself was just three months old. ❤️ #bekindtoelephants #trunkupwines ・・・ Siku may be just a baby, by already she’s right in step with the rest of her herd! • This pint-sized girl is our 28th confirmed “grandcalf.” We rescued her mother, Sunyei, when she fell into a mannade hole as a tiny 10-day-old. After spending years in our care, Sunyei eventually returned to a life in the wild and we are thrilled to see her enter this new stage of life as a mum. Soon after giving birth, first-time mum Nasalot brought her new baby to our Ithumba stockades and introduced him to the Keepers there. Babies Wiva, Gawa, and Kama absolutely love her — and their mothers (and fellow wild-living DSWT orphans) certainly appreciate the break. All this practice will come in handy when Sidai becomes a mother herself someday.
