I wish my my mom would treat me this way.... I wish she'd accept me for just being me! I'm a boy maman and there's nothing you can do about it! You say that I'm bullying my point of view but all I'm doing it trying to get you to understand that this who I am. I'm not confused. I'm not your daughter, I'm your son, why can't you see that or except me for me? I know you love me and care for me but I wish you would at least call me by my preferred name and pronouns..... it hurts... I'm just as much a boy as my brothers! I may be feminine and have "girl" parts but that doesn't make me less of a boy than a guy who isn't and has a penis! And I'm sorry if I can't answer the "why?" question, it just is!

Terrific Tuesday, to you! Today I want to tell you a story about sparkles. Hang in there with me for just a second. You see many years ago Danielle had had a particularly horrendous day of seizures (like several 100 seizures). Late that night I did as I always did and talked to my very sweet and treasured friend, Treva. She asked how my day went and for several hours (interrupted by more seizures) I begrudged my entire day (and likely my life if I were to be very honest and transparent). She, of course, was an amazing friend and listened and even agreed with my pain. Later when I was in bed I laid there feeling defeated and sad and lonely. Then it occurred to me that even adding all the time of all those seizures it still added to only 5-6 hrs of "hideous". I had approximately 18 hrs of a day that I threw away worrying about the last seizure, terrified of the next. Even the time spent with my dear friend was spent in misery of my choosing. I called Treva back and we made a deal to hold each other accountable and hold each other up to celebrate THIS moment. Just this one, because this moment is almost always ok. Thus the sparkles-you can't celebrate without sparkles and cake, but the cake thing was getting troublesome so now we just have sparkles. I lost Treva 7 years ago next month, but I will never lose the sparkles she gave me. Dear friend, may your day be filled with sparkles and joy. This moment is beautiful. Just this one, that's all we have to worry about. You matter so so much more than you think! Celebrate and don't be afraid to sparkle.
