First - if anyone knows someone with an orphaned lamb they'd like to try grafting onto a milky mama ewe who's just lost her newborn twins please have them get in touch with me asap! I'm not expecting lambs for another 3+ weeks and wasn't planning on learning how to milk my sheep this year. (I may need to learn how to make cheese from said milk from you @theartofcheeselongmont !) This evening was a bit of a sad shocker. (Warning - not a rosy farm day recap up ahead) Zelda went into labor and had twins - one i found dead already and the other nearly so (she passed away not long ago despite me warming her up and getting some food in her belly) not sure root cause but suspect premature. They were small but appeared pretty much fully developed from the exterior. That said, if my calculations are correct we shouldn't have lambs drop for another 4 weeks! So either they were preemie or one of the ram lambs left his mark before he went to market!!! Either way a bummer way to end the day. Hoping things will be smoother moving forward. . . #ivehadbetterdays #lambing2020 #sheep #Icelandic #icelandicsheep #boulder #boulderco #bouldercolorado #colorado #frontrange #lafayette #lafayetteco #lafayettecolorado #louisville #louisvilleco #louisvillecolorado #erie #eriecolorado #longmont #longmontcolorado #longmontco #bigashfarmcolorado #bigashfarm #bigashfarmco #farm #farmlife https://www.instagram.com/p/B9qViIdgU00/?igshid=1uzp27lyds0pm
