Do we think the ghouls have allowances?

Because, yeah okay the touring ghouls get paid for their performances, but what about the ones back at the abbey?

Do they do chores? Help out around the ministry? Take on abbey tasks to keep the wheels moving? (I view the ministry as a very self-sustaining operation).

Give me Ivy and Pebble, who still tend to the gardens and greenhouses and help out with carpentry for repairs.

Mist, who helps with the irrigation and keeping the pollution in the lakes down.

Alpha, who assists with the slash and burn to keep the crops tidy, or fashioning new pieces of iron for the doors and fastenings in need of repair (blacksmith Alpha my beloved).

Aether and Omega, who still run the infirmary like clockwork.

Zephyr, who keeps the archives in check and the library organised.

Cumulus, who's still the abbey seamstress, helping out the Sisters when their garments wear out.

Ifrit, who is something of a domestic god, who's lack of book-learned intelligence is absolutely made up by him being excellent at cooking.

Phantom, when he's home, who runs errands outside the abbey for the Sisters, who all give him a little bit extra pocket money because he's just so damn precious and polite.

The ancients beyond Alpha and Omega don't do much outside of the above, they're, for all intents and purposes, retired. But they can occasionally be found being roped into menial tasks like getting the grocery shopping done.

im having big feelings about ministry gardens

headcanons under the cut

the ministry has 3 gardens:

☆a small 'gothic' one of these exotic themed flowers and plants that is primo's personal garden.

☆a gated garden of poisonous plants that Ivy started (he's named after poison ivy not english ivy for a reason) and he works with the local community college for research of antidotes

☆the conservatory: it has veggies, fruits, berry bushes, and typical flowers. was a gift from papa nihil to primo to butter the 16 year old up to taking care of baby copia in addition to secondo and terzo

☆it supplies a lot of the ministry's food and is renowned in the city for its beautiful glass architecture. mountain grows weed. chain ghoul is the main water ghoul and built a wall of hydroponics.

☆newly summoned rain ghoul would curl up and sleep in some of the hydroponic troughs. it actually made the pot grow faster, so he got the nickname "bongwater" bc of it

☆dewdrop wouldnt step foot in the poison garden for two months after his transition because he was afraid he would accidentally burn or destroy it

☆copia met his first soul rat in primo's gothic garden when he was young
