5. Do you hyperfocus on productive things or irrelevant things?

Too often on irrelevant things, it sucks. I wish I could focus on planning fics I started. Alas!

6. Are you a multitasking ADHDer or an overhwhelmed ADHDer?

I used to be very good at multitasking. I’m trying to get there simply by diversifying what I do in a day. It isn’t going too well :) And atm I’m more underwhelmed than overwhelmed.

17. Reading hyperfocus or reading impossible?

Reading impossible. Used to be hyperfocus until 19, then stress happened and I haven’t regained it since. I can read now, but only a couple of months a year and only like before bed, if I make myself do it. Audiobooks help.

ummmm Twin Peaks I think? that might be the only tv soundtrack i actually own and I used to listen to it a LOT. but by ‘used to’ i mean. like. a while ago since i only have it on cassette tape. I never actually ever finished watching twin peaks but the music is nice. the due south soundtrack is also fine if like. you remove paul gross from it

23. strange habits?

I know I have loads of them, but as I’ve got older I’ve either become more okay with my own weirdness or lost a lot of my weirder habits. Lip nibbling is probably the current one. 

50. what made you laugh the hardest you ever have?

Oh god, probably when Rum got his head stuck in a ice cream carton? Or when my colleague emailed estates claiming our dripping ceiling was chinese water torture and cited three separate research papers.

58. four talents you’re proud of having?

Smut writing, singing, economic model building, advice giving. I’m great at all these things, and my life is better the more I maximise them.

73. favorite weird flavor combo?

I once accidentally made a strawberry mousse and cut the strawberries on the same cutting board as onions and while it was gross, I did eat all of it? I mean I wouldn’t go out of my way to make it again but it was a surprising flavour combination. Otherwise I always put cinnamon in my beef stews and marmite in my cheese sauce.

98. favorite historical era?

Cold war futurism, so space race era, both American and Soviet. Love it.

well you could try to at least exclude the xkit extension as a possible cause by disabling it temporarily and refreshing the page and then see if it's still happening? if that doesn't stop it then it's tumblr being weird (because I've had a few posts where an addition I added got spread beyond just people reblogging from me and I did not get notification for those, so that's not something that always happens)

either way tumblr is weird about these things anyway because I *have* had a thing like this happen when one (1) person added a gif of mine to a post through that built in gif function and I got notifications for every reblog containing that gif >_>... and I think sometimes if the OP @ mentioned you in the original post this also happens

I think the conversations thing did the trick for me, actually! I’ll take a look at the xkit extension if it starts happening again, though--thank you! :D 

tumblr is DEFINITELY weird about these things and has been for a long time--it just seems like they’ve now decided to make that weirdness standard instead of something that just kind of randomly happens every once in a while?

I’ll talk about…hmm, The Heist Affair. I love, love, love casefic and I usually end up writing at least one for each of my main fandoms. The problem is that I generally have a pretty short attention span, so I tend to get bored of working on a single fic after I hit around the 10k words mark…so for any fic I’m writing that’s >10k words, I need to be excited enough about it that I can commit to writing the whole thing. Casefic tends to be a good enough motivator, especially if I’m disciplined enough to plot out a complete & detailed outline before I actually start writing.

The one-affair-per-week format of the MFU TV episodes is fun and easily digestible, so I knew from the beginning that I wanted my casefic to read like it could be an episode of the show, albeit with added Napollya slash in it (well, more than just the implied slashiness of the show, lol). I’m not 100% sure if I succeeded in that aspect of it, but I hope I did!

The one big doubt I had about this fic when I plotted it out was that I was very unsure about separating the boys for a large portion of the story, because the one single thing I adore the most about MFU is the sizzling chemistry between Napoleon and Illya - so having them work separately for a good part of the fic was something I wasn’t completely confident about. On the other hand - part of what makes the two of them an amazing team is that they can work completely independently while trusting the other partner 100% to do his part, and that was something I wanted to showcase as well.

This is getting a bit long :);;;; so I’ll just add a little bit more about a specific section of the story, this part in chapter 5:

The thug smirked triumphantly and advanced on him until his knife was an inch from Illya’s throat – then froze as the cold metal of a muzzle was pressed up against the back of his head.

“I would advise,” Napoleon said pleasantly, “that you drop the knife right now.”

“I could kill him before you shoot,” blustered the thug.

“Just try it,” said Napoleon, and his voice was soft, ice-cold. “You’ll be dead before your knife ever reaches his throat.”

In the show, the sheer speed with which Napoleon goes from suave charming spy to cold deadly killer whenever Illya is threatened makes me go weak at the knees. So. I definitely had to work that into the story. Call it a tiny bit of self-indulgence!

Okay and just one final thing! Since the MFU (TV) fandom is pretty small, I wasn’t even really sure I’d get many readers for all the effort I was expending on writing, so it was such a nice surprise when people did read it! Also, @jackymedan you gave me such BEAUTIFUL art for it, omg THANK YOU AGAIN you really have no idea how happy you made me :))))

ok so, your bio says "you can ask me anything" and I've only been following you for a very short while, so.. I'm curious: you keep mentioning being "on set" do you mean you work on movie/tv show sets? if so, that sounds very cool :))) (also I already said this, but I really love your mfu art <3 thank you so much for sharing them with us!)

Yeah! Me and my brother do lots of background/extra work in movies and TV. I’m from British Columbia and a lot of american shows film here so during the summer when I’m not in school there’s often a lot of work. I’ve worked on Once Upon a Time, Riverdale, Deadpool, Bates Motel, The 100, Dirk Gently’s and some other stuff, it’s really fun! Also thanks so much! I’m kind of obsessive so I end up doing millions of doodles for whatever show I’m currently into... I was worried it was getting a little much so I’m glad people still dig them!
