jacob loved walking down your neighborhood. everything about it was just comforting -- from the trees with beautiful flowers to the chalk on the floor from little kids. it made him feel nostalgic and warmed his heart. your neighborhood was quiet and everyone seemed to know each other.
walking down the street, jacob stopped by one of the houses that had pretty flowers in their front yard. he looked down and smiled as his eyes scanned for the perfect flowers. he is never the type to take something from someone’s yard but he made a mental note to apologize to the owner on his way back.
kneeling, jacob grabbed a couple of flowers that varied in beautiful hues. “she would love these.” he says, smiling to himself. grabbing a hair tie he kept in his pocket from a few days ago, he tied it around the stems and began his way to you.
little did he know, from the window of the house he stole the flowers from, the owner quickly put on their shoes. they observed him while he was admiring the flowers and knew that he probably had someone to give it to. deciding not to butt in and ruin his smile, they want to see if this person of his is worthy of their flowers.
following behind jacob -- in a not so creepy way, they realize how long he has been walking for. they notice how his posture has become more secluded (?) and wary. he now has his head down low and paid attention to his footsteps.
after finally turning down a street, they stopped abruptly. they knew where they were since they visited this place often. looking up at jacob, they felt their heart tighten.
they decided to leave him be and walk back to their house. somewhat connecting with the random stranger who stole their flowers. they figure that they will just plant more flowers for him incase he wants to take anymore.
jacob looked up and entered the gate. the security guard already knew him as he visited everyday and let him go through. jacob gave him a little nod and walked along the (really) grassy path.
upon arriving, jacob smiled again -- but this time, he didn’t know whether it was real or fake. feeling his eyes water, he sat down on the grass and gently put the makeshift bouquet at your gravestone.
“i got you flowers.” he says, wiping away his tears. “they remind me of you and how pretty you are.”
“i miss you y/n.”
