Forever [Jake x F!MC]

Title: Forever

Based on: Endless Summer

Rating: Teen (Character death and brief mention of violence)

Note: I wanted to try something new, in lieu of the upcoming release of ES3. Tried to deviate away from my usual long-winded sentences and over-explanations lol. I hope this doesn’t suck!

Based on a poem I found online. I swear I have forgotten where I saw this, but I have a feeling it was in the Choices fandom? I mean the poem screams ES angst? If someone has already written on this quote before/shared it, I am not trying to plagiarise you, I promise. I mean I read the quote and I couldn’t help but write this.

I hope you like it. :)

“I wish we could stay this way forever,” she whispers.

“You are my forever,” he whispers.

She chuckles, kissing him softly. The moon lights the otherwise dark hut completely up.

“We don’t have much time,” he reminds her. She makes a face.

“We never do.”

He sighs softly, and reaches out to tuck a strand of my hair gently behind her ear.

“When all this is over, my Princess, we will rest,” he promises her.

“And until then…” she continues for him, and gently weaves her fingers through his. She feels, then hears, the very faint clink of the silver bands on both of their fingers – a reminder of the commitment they have made to one another.

“Until then, we fight for peace. And for us,” he finishes.

And they start running.

They don’t make it far. The enemies surround them within an hour, and they are fighting. Back to back, with their friends around them, they fight hard.

It only takes a small slip-up on both of their parts, and he is fatally wounded.

“NO!” she screams, holding him as he falls. The fight doesn’t stop around them, but they are now in their own world.

She cradles him in her lap, whimpering.

“No, no, please don’t – “ she cries as his blood stains her dress; the white silk turns crimson within seconds.

“I..love…”

And then, silence.

They are almost out of this island.

Right at the brink of escape.

They are paddling as fast they can, their small boat barely staying afloat.

But they feel the boat rock dangerously as the waves grow larger, and suddenly, a gigantic creature rises from the sea, baring its teeth.

Their boat capsizes, but they valiantly struggle.

“Keep swimming!” he instructs her, making sure that he’s in the middle of the monster and her.

And she does. Oh, she does.

She puts all her energy into fighting the current, pulling him along with her.

Till the sea monster’s tail wraps around him without warning, and pulls him down under. She goes along, unwilling to let go of him.

It’s a fight, but he manages to slip out of her grasp. He no longer struggles. He lets go, realising he’s only pulling her down.

She struggles, sinking further to reach him.

With a last surge of energy, he pushes her to the surface.

She watches as his bright blue eyes disappear into the dark depths, along with the monster.

The last air bubble escapes his mouth, and she breaks through the water’s surface.

Screaming. Crying.

They are almost there.

She’s weak, and he’s exhausted, but they are going to make it.

The gunshot comes as a nasty shock, and she jumps.

“Not…now.”

He falls to the ground as she spins around in horror. As soon as she spots the enemy, she moves to defend both herself and him.

But her body’s not functioning fully. Not yet.

The man points his gun at her, and she accepts her fate. At least, she’ll go with –

In the blink of an eye, he has his arms around the enemy, choking him.

She watches in horror as he wrestles with the man in the mask. A sickening crack fills the air, and both of them go still.

Letting out a cry, she rushes to hold him in her arms.

His body is torn, completely wrecked by the bullets. He reaches a shaking hand up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear as she begs him not to leave her.

“At least I got to see you…one last time.”

She buries her face in the crook of his neck, weeping helplessly as he breathes his last.

Her eyes blink open, and she stares into the distance. Everything is moving around her – time is resetting itself, back to the beginning.

How many more times, she wonders to herself.

Skin wrinkled, knees weak, hair brittle – how many more times till her mind and body both caves in on itself, giving up?

And then his brilliant smile flashes through her mind. His sass, his grit, his warmth.

Him.

She adjusts herself, straightening up.

“I’m coming back for you, Jake,” she whispers. “I’m going to make this right. For us.”

Her jaw is set.

“…forever.”

And for the 2,139th time, she begins her journey again.

And in an instant, I would leave this

universe

If I could find you in another universe

Where the time is finally right

And our stars finally align

And I could be yours

A little longer than

Forever.

Jake's idol scene destroyed me.

I am literally in a daze now. Destroyed. Done for.

Jake and Mike? Mike was scared. Mike died alone. Scared and alone. And Jake had to see that. I mean, why? Why not just reach into my chest and just rip my heart out instead?

And then, ha ha, and then the first thing does when he is free is rescue MC. And he 'got to see her one last time'. Ha ha ha. Ha.

Listen I will spend every last damn diamond I have and then some more to make Jacob Lucas Mckenzie happy, you hear me?
