Half man, half magic.
PB: People who replay our books that they love are abusing the 15 diamond reward system! We're gonna take it away so that you give the new (AI generated) books a chance!
PB, 2 weeks later: We know you love and miss the old books, so we're gonna make a sequel for one of them! In order to vote on which should get a sequel, go and replay these older books!
My rediscovered love for the Endless Summer universe and my OTP is not leaving, sooo... what's better than one fic? Two fics! They started as one story, but at some point I realized the storylines and tones are too separate. So enjoy the first chapters of both, freshly posted on AO3 :)
Long Way Home
Jake comes back home, and Taylor realizes she'd rather face the sabertooth than meet his mother (at least nobody expects her to befriend the tiger). Domestic fluff & comedy with occasional gut punch
Cold Case
Detective Rebecca McKenzie sets out on a quest to find the truth on what happened on La Huerta. Detective / mystery fiction
They can be read as standalones (I hope!), even if some scenes overlap from different perspectives.
Pick your fighter wisely ❤️ (...though if it is the detective one, I'll be here doing a little happy dance cause I love her and her story already)
i am sick and tired of the lack of sean and jake propaganda. where the endless summer baddies at
I want to be hopeful - I really want to…
But deep down we all know they’re not going to actually put any work into this and are just trying to cash in on past employees and their hard work.
If this does happen, I do hope it’s The Elementalists - we never got an ending. It was a cliffhanger. However, I can’t help but feel that the voting process is just going to be their way of upping numbers to look good statistically this month.
That and what’s the likelihood that it will be as good as the others (thinking of BloodBound: Origins for example). The latter got so many people excited just to let us down.
It wasn’t awful, no. It just wasn’t great.
Do we really want a popular series to be tarnished by a badly written sequel full of AI rubbish that no one wants to see? I haven’t engaged with any of the new books and that’s because the AI creeps me out.
I’m going to be honest, the thought of Endless Summer getting an AI sequel makes me sick. (absolute negative zero percent chance they get actual artists btw).
Something about One of the most creative stories that was made with actual heart and love from the writers and artists that made it being dug up from the grave so they can churn it through AI and make a soulless unnecessary sequel that’s only going to detract from and lessen the emotional impact of the original trilogy for the money just feels disrespectful to me.
It also feels like a desperate attempt to keep more fans from leaving because they’re not doing as well financially. It’s like, they’re finally realizing that just maybe you should care about keeping your readers? but what do I know.
The Elementalists book 3 I can maybe get behind if it’s the same story that the original writers came up with and also not AI. But Endless Summer I have absolutely no faith in them doing it justice, both art and story I can only see going badly.
They could prove me wrong (they have before), but for now, my brains perceives this as a threat.
Not my usual anymore but I missed them and I really like this piece
