Also, I know the height difference here isn't exactly accurate, I didn't feel like figuring it out.

Can you imagine what it’s like to be her right now? You spend your life having to be separate gems, hiding your love and identity in order to conform to Homeworld’s demands, likely for thousands of years depending on when they were created.

Then Pink Diamond returns, and she throws a ball to signal the start of Era Three. Not only is this a chance to perform for the diamonds they serve (Blue and Yellow), but they also get a chance to see Pink Diamond herself, back from the dead.

Then Pink Diamond, one of the four leaders of Homeworld, fuses in front of everyone. Then a Ruby and a Sapphire fuse. Then her Pearl fuses with an Amethyst.

Can you imagine the affirmation she felt in that moment? Seeing other fusions existing outside of when Homeworld commands it? The two fused immediately, ready to join by Steven’s side, because she likely thought that Pink Diamond was going to allow fusions like herself to be themselves in the new Era Three.
