Stay With Me - Whumptober Day 17
"French, that's enough. Stand down."
"But Sir-"
"Enough!"
"Sir-!"
"I said that's enough, French. Go home."
Liam didn't bother replying as he left the Chief's office, barely resisting the urge to slam the door behind him.
He storms past the other officers, grabbing his stuff out of his locker before slamming that shut. The Chief had seemed to have it out for him since he'd returned to work, the one shred of normalcy he'd had disappearing in his grasp.
Instead of going straight home, he rode his bike around the city aimlessly for a while, letting his anger dissipate a bit.
The ringing of his phone distracts him and he skids into a parking lot before answering. He barely checked who was calling before pulling off his helmet and answering.
"French."
"Liam? I don't feel well. Mum's gone out."
"James. Shit. Right, you at home?"
"You're not here."
"Need to know where I'm going, James."
"I don't want you to go." He's no help.
"Lie down James. I'm on my way."
He quickly routed the call through his headset before pulling his helmet back on and racing towards home.
"'m on the floor. Head hurts."
"Keep talking to me James, ok? I won't be long."
"Are you coming home?"
"Yeah James. I'm coming home, and I'll be there soon."
"Okay."
Liam revved his bike and sped faster down the road, not liking how James sounded over the phone, and hoping he didn't get pulled over and fully willing to abuse his police privilege to avoid speeding tickets.
James whimpers, his breath hitching over the phone. "Liam? 'm scared."
"I'm almost home James. Just a few streets away, ok?"
"Gonna die. Don't - don't wanna."
"You're gonna be ok. I'll be with you in a couple of minutes."
He whines again, the phone against his ear beginning to confuse him. He could hear Liam's voice, but he wasn't in front of him.
Liam swears softly under his breath as he pulls into the street, skidding his bike into the space luckily open in front of his building.
By the time Liam made it to his flat, James had started seizing. He'd already bitten his tongue, the blood making it hard for him to breathe.
He swears a bit more, glancing at the clock and making sure James isn’t going to hit his head before sitting down to wait for it to finish.
Liam keeps James on his side, carefully wiping away the blood from the corner of his mouth. It's a relatively short seizure for James, and he stays by his side until James starts to come round.
James' movements eventually start to become more purposeful, attempting to roll away from Liam. He whines, trying to fight the hands holding him down.
"Hey, James. It's okay. It's just Liam." He runs his hands through James' hair, trying to soothe him.
"L'm?" James whines after a moment
"Yeah James, I'm here."
"Am I 'kay?" He finally forces himself to focus on his twin.
"You bit your tongue., so you're bleeding a bit."
"Oh. Hurts."
"Yeah, it will for a bit. Do you remember what happened?"
"Um, Mum went out and I felt bad..." James replied, still looking a bit out of it.
"Anything more?" Liam asked, getting a little worried at James' vague answer
"My head hurts." He curls onto Liam's lap, curling his hand around the hem of his shirt. "Is mum coming back?"
"I'll call her in a moment. Can you tell me where you are?"
James hums. "With you."
Liam runs his fingers through James' hair again, and he hums again at the contact.
"Stay with me?"
"Of course I'm going to stay you idiot."
"Your hoodie is real soft, Liam. 's soft. Like you." He yawns again, shifting to get comfortable.
Liam huffed a bit, smiling at his brother's words. "You should tell my boss that. He told me I'm too hard."
"You're soft. I'll fight him for you. Love you, L'm."
"Love you too, James."

Weiterlesen ->
