It’s so fun to hate David
2025~ A year in fandom-land (in chibi's!) 💖✨
Apart from spending 9 months of this year working SUPER HARD on completing my second ever full colour graphic novel, I've also been soaking myself in classic literature (started my classic book year with Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities"!) - but that clearly WASN'T ENOUGH because I proceeded to make my favourite characters the subjects of (so much) fanfiction and fanart (like you wouldn't believe) because that was just always going to be the destiny of my 2025✋🏾🥴
While "David Copperfield" definitely ~consumed~ the better part of my free time this year (thank you, my darling Prince and Angel, for being so inspiring to me 👑🪽) -Pip and Herbert from Great Expectations kinda kick-started my very unexpected year of writing fanfiction (??) with 'My Dear Handel' 💖 I even recorded that as my first EVER audiobook!! Trying new things?! Yeeey fanfiction!✨
Fanfiction (for me) exists where there are gaps in the lives and stories of interesting characters~ & while I've definitely explored how characters might react in different situations to canon, I've found that most of my fanfiction centres around diving into canonical relationships and figuring out how they work and WHY~!
While it could be argued that I'm in too many fandoms (🫣✋🏾pls) it has also been SOOO REFRESHING to get back into writing just for writing's sake. I LOVE to draw, but I LOVE to write and imagine stories too!~ and I'm hoping all the unexpected practice I put in this year will lead me on to starting writing my own non-illustrated books next year (instead of riffing off existing literature) 😶🌫️ ?? 💖🧨
Anyway, I've had an obscene amount of fun this year, so rounding it off by drawing a couple of my favourite fandom classics characters (not all by any means! Dracula, Persuasion, Frankenstein, thinking of you) has been the perfect way to sum it up! 💖
(Oh, and yes, these are DEFINITELY going to appear in my Ko-Fi shop in the new year as stickers and keyrings.... 🫣)✨🩷✨
1-4 witch au
and other modern au ( david x uriah / steerforth x uriah)
James Steerforth: *dismissive* oh, Miss Dartle’s scar? Yeah, I threw a hammer at her years ago-what can I say, I was pretty annoyed at her that day!
David Copperfield: *benevolently* what a peculiar guy you are!
James Steerforth: *gets the kindest teacher at school fired because he is poor and he had a disagreement with him*
David Copperfield: Steerforth has such a strong character, he never backs down from challenging authority! Man, pity that Mr Mell had to resign!
Agnes Wickfield, literally David’s moral compass: Trotwood, that guy is a bad friend to have.
David Copperfield: what? Noooo, he is Steerforth! He is my best friend, that’s the way he is!
From the life of Ilion Tusk, Space Crusader
I’m happy and honored to report that my 42-word story From the life of Ilion Tusk, Space Crusader – a thinly veiled allusion to a well-known real-life figure –, is part of the anthology Book of 42² published in November of 2024. The anthology was compiled by B. A. Mullin and comprises 1764 ultrashort stories in 42 genres, such as Alternate Reality, Apocalyptic, Crime, Culture, Romance, Steampunk,…
