listen, good slowburns (like all types of ships) can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but I have to say that my ultimate measuring stick for slowburns, that in my mind is the Platonic Ideal of a slowburn, at least when it comes to the "fuse" part of the slowburn (AKA the development before the first undeniably "canon romantic" moment) is Luke and Lorelai.

if it was dragged out any longer than it was, it would've been tiresome. if it happened sooner, it could've been FINE, but lost some extra flavor. those last several episodes of s4 are just... so... fucking... impeccable, as well as ALL of the show leading up to it. not every ship will be that, but we must recreate the conditions that ALLOW the java junkies of the world to have a CHANCE!
