This was truly one of Cher’s most ambitious projects yet. The first time someone suggested it, she thought they were joking, but she did love challenges, and nothing screamed ‘challenge’ more than John Bender. 

But she had to be careful. Cher couldn’t just walk over him and offer him a ticket to a better life. Huh-uh. She had to work. Still, there wasn’t a task too big for her. All it took was a small chat with Mr. Hall and voilá. John and her were project partners. She had offered him a small smile and wave when the teacher announced their names in class, and as soon as the bell rang, Cher walked closer to his seat. “You should come to my house today to do the project. We’ll have plenty of space to do it there. I would suggest to use the library, but I heard that Sarah G. and Tommy F. totally had sex there last week, and now he’s with some rush, so I won’t be going near there for the rest of the semester.” Cher made a disgusted face at the mental image. The story was true, but she would take any chances to make him into a decent teenager and bringing him to her house was only the step one.
