and if i said that jesus christ superstar (1973) is one of the only movie adaptions of a stage musical that’s ever worked because its staging, communication of thematic meaning through design (set, costume, choreography, etc), and dedication to the source material makes it feel less like a film and more like a professional recording of the show being performed on an outdoor stage? what then?
