Headcanon that an Alderaanian jedi came up with Padawan braids.

On Alderaan, braids are so popular among the planet's people because they symbolize heritage and family. I imagine some jedi thought of this custom when they got their own padawan and decided to carry it over. Because not only does the braid show a jedi is in training, but it also links them to their master. From the moment they recieve it, they are family, and that padawan is now a part of a lineage.

Other members of the Order asked about it, and after it was explained, they thought it was a great idea. Asked if they could do it for their own padawans.

It's represented the closest thing to familial ties in the Order ever since.

I imagine that the process of braiding is done in the early days of the arrangement, and it's a time where master and padawan spend time to know each other. It's so deeply personal because it's what solidifies the bond between the two jedi.

It's also said that taking braids down on Alderaan is an extremely intimate act, and that it's a task usually delegated to loved ones. Having a padawan braid removed by anyone but their master without permission is an infringement and kind of an insult. To have it forcibly removed by the Order is the equivalent of being cut off.

I dont like how canon handles the Jedi's view on NOT being a Jedi so i am changing that.

Give me a Jedi Order that teaches their younglings that it is OKAY if being a Jedi Knight is not the path for them. That it is an honor to work in any of their Service Corps. Or if the Corps are not the path for you that is also OKAY and you wont be abandoned by the only family and home you've ever known.

Give me a Jedi Order that has a building of apts right by the temple for those of age, whos path no longer aligns with the Jedi. Where they still have access to their frends and family inside the temple. Where they are housed and fed for free while they are providd free education in what their path dictates and classes through other past Jedi on how to navigate life as a regular citizen - taxes are confusing no matter what univese youre in.

Give me a Jedi Order that responds to a padawan cutting their training early to leave the Order with melancholy celebrations. Because on one hand, look at how much their kid has grown and reflected on what is best for THEM and was brave enough to follow their path, they are so damn proud. But on the other hand, thats their kid. The ex-padawan will remain in the masters care until they are of age, but they will no lnger have lessons with them, or go on missions with them. They are proud, they are sad, they celebrate.

Give me a jedi order that has a ceromony of honor and pride for the initiates that do not become knights, but instead join one of the Jedi Corps. Where creche mates dance and play and theorize what kind of work they'll get to do. New little padawans listening with stars in their eyes when they listen to their friends talk about all the work they will get to learn and do in the Corps they chose. All the planets and people they will help, their way, through agriculture, medicine, education or just simple exploration. They'll miss the friends that will remain to be trained as Knights, but they are excited to see where the force leads them with the Corps.

Give me a Jedi Order that is PROUD of their religion and customs and way of life.

Give me a Jedi Order that is just as PROUD when one of their little lights in the force finds a new path, outside of them.

I want the Jedi temple to have a radio station. Like we know radio stations exist in star wars, we've seen them (ie: In the Rishi station episode) and I think the Jedi should have a local radio station with different Jedi news programs. Whats going on in the senate, new research the medic corps or educorps just came out with. There's a creche hour where the younglings get to write up and present their own stories. Investigative journalism! Fluff pieces about Jedi theater or music or something. Quiz games. There's a shout out every time someone makes it to the rank of knight or master.

When the war starts Jedi flip to the station to hear a reminder of home. Their clone commanders put it on to remind their Jedi to keep up hope, that this is what they're fighting for. The Jedi give the clones a news segment to talk about whatever they want. New trends, armor paint, weapon tips, they have a call in portion and it gets wild---they have to make a rule that you can't call in from an active battlefield.

The rebellion uses the same station numbers for their pirate radio.

i'm just saying that the since jedi wear their robes left-over-right, the sith should reverse that (irl, kimono are worn left-over-right because right-over-left is for the dead at funerals) when they wear asymmetrical clothes, as a little sartorial 'kriff u' hubris like death is another one of those chains from their code to break. like maul's robes should cross right over left. if he, u know, wore them closed.

An idea that has been been really amusing for me to think about lately is a forum/social media type place that is exclusively just jedi/jedi temple stuff. Not only would it allow jedi to keeps tabs on what their friends but also just general temple news. Just the idea of silly social media type trends from the bigger holonet starts getting introduced unto the jedi version and they catch on like wildfire.

This was originally just meant to be silly when I first wrote this draft, but now that I think about it more it has much bigger potential than just for fun stuff. There could be discussion boards on different force topics. Parents who give their children to the order could use it to keep up to date on how their kid is doing. Honestly the more I think about it the longer I could go on about it.

Headcanon that due to only being used to fighting

Armies of droids

Relatively untrained crimincals

Other Jedi who respectfully duel one on one

One of a Jedi’s biggest weakness is that if you duel them with a lightsaber or really anything pole shaped that can stand up to a lightsaber, they mentally sort you into catagory 3 and do not expect you to kick them in the balls, throw sand into their eyes, or spit at their face when dramatically staring at each other

Jedi robes on Initiates and Padawans are large and roomy for the young to grow into. A Padawan might not get back to the Temple with a year of flying between constant mission, and it’d be embarrassing for a growing adolescent to have exposed arms and ripped seams.

Jedi robes on full grown Knights and Masters have multiple layers to help others. Another layer given to their Padawan or non-Force sensitive companions could save a life from the cold or sickness. Drop a layer as a decoy and still have the essential gear still on them.

Obi-Wan is the first to rip up his robes and tunics to use as temporary bandages until the Clones can get to a medic.

Cody is annoyed and heartened to see his General in only what is pretty much torn up short shorts and boots after a battle.

One thing that I cannot stop thinking about as I get older and more immersed in the Jedi and their stories is how we are only shown areas of the Jedi Temple that are very common-room type areas. Areas that, with very few outside accommodations, just about any species in the Galaxy could utilize or traverse.

But what I want more of is super specialized areas. Areas that only aquatic or semi-aquatic species can access. Spaces for flying species or acrobatic species to stretch their wings and/or legs.

There are SO many species in the Galaxy, and there is SO MUCH of the Jedi Temple we haven't seen. I refuse to believe these spaces don't or couldn't exist.
