I had some thoughts about the 12 dancing princesses nicknames on the way to work today.

Genevieve has always had the nickname Gen, pronounced like 'jen' with a soft 'g' same as her full name. However, when the triplets were born, The only way to shorten Jenessa was either Jen or Nessie (insert twilight screen cap).

When the triplets were born, Genevieve was 11 and had firmly established the nickname Gen so all of her older siblings just started using Jenny as Jenessa's nickname because that one was used for Genevieve less.

However. The twins were 8 and at prime pedantic about the things they were currently learning age. They realized with the consideration of 'Jen' that 'Gen' isn't ~correct~ according to the letter sounds. It has a G and should therefore be pronounced with a hard 'guh' sound.

Long story short, everyone calls Genevieve 'Gen', and Jenessa 'Jenny' except for the twins, Isla and Hadley, who call them Gen ( the G pronounced like genshin impact or gun) and Jen (the J pronounced normaly)
