Night of the Rabbit
“Follow the White Rabbit, Jerry!”
Two years ago I drew an image based on my favourite game "The Night of the Rabbit". Because it seems like a big inspiration for the it was Alice in Wonderland, I drew a rabbit hole inspired artwork for it. While I don't dislike the original drawing, the memory of it is filled with technical difficulties and especially in the perspective I think I can do better now. Alice and the White Rabbit. An unforgettable duo. But their story isn't just that of a little girl following a perpetually late bunny into Wonderland. No, it's a tale of a master and apprentice, whose affection and trust is destroyed thanks to corruption and a lust for power.
Upon hearing that the Marquis de Hoto had been seen in Mousewood, Alice Liddell hurries to see for herself if her fallen teacher has truly escaped. But what's worse; eternally living with the guilt of having betrayed the mentor she once admired, or the fear that he's returned and is out for revenge? Or perhaps, the knowledge that no matter what, a piece of her heart will always belong to him?
(I’m always a bit nervous posting my fanfics on Tumblr, especially for ones that don’t have a huge fandom like “The Night of the Rabbit,” but I’m really proud of this one and if posting it here gets more people into this lovely game, it’ll be worth it. So please give it a read.)
This picture is based on my favorite video game "The Night of The Rabbit". It’s. an absolutely gorgeous point and click adventure game. In it you play as Jerry Hazelnut, a young boy with the dream of becoming a magician and becoming the apprentice of the white rabbit Marquis de Hoto who teaches him in the art of magic. A key feature in the game is traveling between worlds through trees. So I wanted to draw a piece about that. And because it feels like an inspiration for the game was Alice in Wonderland I decided to draw a “Down the rabbit hole” kind of image. You know, the ones where Alice falls down the hole surrounded by different items: Furniture, books, kettles, etc. The items I chose for the image all were items which played a part in the game. That being said, Night of the Rabbit set itself up with a sequel yet I don’t see it anywhere.
Were is it, Daedalic Entertainment? I’ve finished the game not even 1 hour ago and I’m already impatient.
