it’s actually so fascinating to think what Kaz’s fashion would be in a modern au because the way he dresses canonically is intrinsically tied to the social and historical context he exists in. He wears all black suits because that’s what Mercher’s wear and he likes the symbolic way he puts himself, a street rat, on the same level as them. But in a modern society, there is no monolithic “rich people” fashion or obvious divide between the way the poor dress and the way the rich do, because of how diverse fashion is now. So it makes me wonder, in a modern version of Kerch, what’s exactly would Kaz wear? What would invoke that same mocking “look at me, I’m poor and I can dress just like you” in modern Kerch? Thrifted designer? (not logo designer though, Kaz is just vain enough to refuse to wear that even in a mocking way lmao) idk when I’m feeling lazy I just put him in the old money aesthetic and call it a day but it is very interesting to think what he would actually wear based on his motivations and thought processes in the book
