Basically, about as well or as poorly as can be expected.  I was really depressed about it earlier this week, which is one of the reasons I took time off from the site, but now I'm just kind of feisty-mad and kind of apathetic about it.  I dunno, I might change my mind tomorrow, but right now I'm not depressed at least :>  Thanks for your concern!

Thank you, that's very kind of you to say :)  I hope so!  I think the clock may have run out on ever getting to see that in any official comics/adaptations, but you never know I guess.  I’ve always meant to write fic in that vein, although I’ve never gotten the proper spark of inspiration for it yet....maybe someday.

I’m a lot more critical of YJ Vertigo because I now know more about Vertigo’s character. Sure he didn’t have many appearances on YJ but in comparison to what I know now that version of Vertigo seems a lot more one-dimensional since he just wanted to murder his niece Perdita to claim the throne. He was like Scar from Lion King. I will forever see it like that.

As for Arrow’s Vertigos, yes plural, because they apparently had two people take the name Vertigo. One for Pre 52 Vertigo which was played by Seth Gabriel and one that was New 52 Vertigo-esque. I don’t know a lot about either, however I dislike the fact the first Vertigo introduced was a drug dealer. That is literally the farthest thing away from Vertigo as a character. I understand they were trying to go realistic when they first started Arrow, but they could have done anything else. They could have made him a scientist for all I care! In his original backstory he tinkered with his implant to created his vertigo powers! AND then when that was taken away from him in the comics after first getting arrested he created one in prison from parts of a calculator!

New 52 Vertigo I don’t know too much about, though I did read his origin flashback thing that was shown. I’ll give them credit that the backstory was interesting, but all in all not anything astounding.

That's the rumour, yeah.  I don't know how true it is, but Jai did make a comment about Digger being racist and sexist...then again, he might have been talking about comics Digger at the time, so who knows.

I know, and it honestly kind of hurts.  It's not meant personally, obviously, but it makes me feel like a stupid chump for waiting and hoping for so long, and that I should just cut my losses and give up.  He's never going to be in one of the movies, so the TV series was probably my last hope and I'd waited patiently for so long.  I just feel really hurt and disappointed, you know?  DC probably keeps jerking Top fans around because he's so unpopular, which makes me feel like I don't matter to them as a fan.  

But we’ll see, I guess....I’m still hoping the reports weren’t legit and the show isn’t going to do this.  But considering that the bit about Sam turned out to be legit, I’m inclined to think the rest of the casting call is too.

Do you have any idea what kind of accent Werner would have? I've always interpreted it as a semi-RP British/Semi-Russian-ish accent due to his upbringing.

Thank you, well for starters: What are Werner's political views? I've assumed he's a communist for a while, but at the same time that wouldn't mesh with his backstory but some dialogue seems to indicate he has communist viewpoints and- Okay, if I keep going my head will explode.

Suicide Squad Possible Spoilers: How do you feel about the comment (Re: Digger) that he "Doesn't play well with others". Do you think it was a nod to the Rogues? Or just a result of a scriptwriter not realizing the EPIC LOVE STORY of Digger/Sam?

I'd lay odds that they weren't even thinking about the Rogues, alas. Modern (New 52) Digger doesn't seem to be associated with the Rogues at all so the tie isn’t as strong as it used to be, and until they're introduced in the cinematic universe they probably won't be a factor. I think that was just the film's way of saying Digger is antisocial and untrustworthy.  It'd be nice to think that the Rogues will be introduced sometime in the future and he'd join them, though!  I'm hoping for that.  Possible future movie spoilers behind the cut.

It’s definitely a positive sign that the Flash arrested Digger in the Squad movie, so at least there’s a tie between them that we haven’t seen in the modern comics era.  I wasn’t expecting that.

And the last rumour going around was that the Flash movie will have Eobard and Len, but these things are a crapshoot for accuracy so who knows if it’s legit.

So I guess what I’m getting at is that I doubt he was written in this movie with the Rogues in mind, but things could change if DC develops the cinematic universe further and keeps wanting to use him.  Fingers crossed!

Because he's lately become a favorite of mine, what sort of interactions did Digger have with the... Charming... Count Werner Vertigo in the Squad?

You know, they barely ever interacted.  Vertigo’s most meaningful interactions were with Deadshot and Poison Ivy (the story arc with him and Deadshot is not to be missed).  This scene is pretty much everything for Digger and Werner.

If you can’t read it, I’ll put it in its own post – let me know if you need that :)

It seems like a waste, but Vertigo wasn’t actually a member of the Squad for very long.  A fair amount of his appearances in the book were of him mentally ill and being controlled by foreign agents and Poison Ivy.  So his story with her was important, as were his conversations with Deadshot.  I’ll spoil the stuff with Deadshot behind a cut, but you might prefer to read the original stories for yourself because it’s good stuff.

Vertigo is bipolar, and he asks Deadshot whether he’d be willing to kill him in lieu of committing suicide, should he want to die.  Floyd readily agrees because that’s the kind of guy he is.  Later, Floyd asks if he still wants to be shot and Werner is offended at his seeming bloodthirstiness – but Floyd says he doesn’t want Werner’s mental health issues to endanger him (Deadshot).  

On the last two pages at the very end of the series, Floyd points a gun at him and they discuss the afterlife and wanting to die.  Finally annoyed with all the dithering, Floyd asks him if he wants to die or not.  And after some thought, Werner says no.  And that’s how the series ends.  It’s a great moment and a great ending for the book.

Well that sounds fun!  Probably more fun than the actual Canada Day celebration, but hey, at least we get a free concert and fireworks here.
