“The Battle Within: A History of the Injustice Universe” - War is Coming: #TomTaylor’s #Injustice Year Two continues with 2014’s issues 7-8 (Chapters 13-16) (cover art to issue 7 by #StephaneRoux and #JheremyRaapack presented). Before heading back to Gotham City to join #CommissionerGordon’s resistance, #BlackCanary drives to #GreenArrow’s hideout to tie loose ends after his death by #Superman. Sitting in his cave is #HarleyQuinn and the two begin to fight until she stops to throw up, signaling to Harley that Black Canary is having pregnancy morning sickness. Seeing Harley Quinn won’t fight her anymore, Canary asks if she has a child, which Harley reveals she has a 4 year old daughter named Lucy who lives with her sister; #Joker never know (or would care) he had a child. When Harley finds out Superman killed Ollie, leaving Canary alone to raise their baby, she decides to join the resistance. The story moves forward seven months with Superman and #Sinestro heading their regime. Canary gives birth to her son Connor and the Green Lantern Corps are ready to join forces with the insurgency. Superman makes an address to the world that the Green Lantern Corps are trying to undo all of the progress him, the Sinestro Corps and the #JusticeLeague have done, so they should join them in rebellion. After hearing this, Black Canary go to the tower of Doctor Fate where #Batman is having a device placed on his spine to straighten it. While #AlfredPennyworth says he still needs to heal, Bruce says there’s no time and asks #Zatanna to fully heal him with her magic. When she refuses, Batman gives a speech to the Insurgency, apologizing for the state of Superman’s world and that some may not come back alive. As everyone teleports to the Batcave, Batman wants to be teleported to Oracle and tells Zatanna to stay behind since she will be ‘plan B’ if the Insurgency fails. “The Battle Within: A History of the Injustice Universe” - Conflict of Interest: In March 2014, #TomTaylor continues the tie-in comic series for 2013’s video game #InjusticeGodsAmongUs with #Injustice Year Two, with issues 1 and 2 (Chapters 1 - 4) illustrated by #BrunoRedondo (cover art by #JheremyRaapack, #DavidLopez and #SantiCasas). After a brief flashback between Black Canary, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and #GreenArrow, the scene switches to Ollie’s funeral with has #Superman and his #JusticeLeague consisting of #Robin, The Flash and Lex Luthor. When Superman tries to talk to Canary, she gives out a loud canary call which almost brings the Man of Steel to kill her but he realizes Dinah is carrying Ollie’s baby and he leaves her alone, feeling guilty he killed the father of her unborn child. As Superman heads to Gotham and asks #CommissionerGordon where #Batman is, we see #AlfredPennyworth seeking the aid of #Zatanna who brought Bruce, whose back was recently broken by Superman, to the tower of #DoctorFate, a place invisible to Superman. Meanwhile, Superman calls in Green Lantern and Flash to meet the U.S. Congress who are about to shutdown the government and force them to make a resolution by any means necessary. The President of the United States calls Bruce but the call is redirected to #Oracle (Barbara Gordon) who assures the POTUS she is on the side fighting against the Man of Steel’s tyranny. POTUS tells Oracle that Superman’s regime has taken Congress hostage. Elsewhere, Robin informs Superman, who has learned #WonderWoman remains unconscious from her fight with Captain Atom and has to be taken back to Themiscyra to properly heal, that #Sinestro has arrived at #Watchtower to inform them the Green Lantern Corps wants Earth to return to its rightful rule even if that means stopping Superman. “The Battle Within: A History of the Injustice Universe” - Kryptonian Rage: #TomTaylor’s “#InjusticeGodsAmongUs Year One” continues with 2013’s issues 3 and 4 (Chapters 7-12), illustrated by #JheremyRaapack, #TomDerenick and #MikeMiller. In #Superman’s new tactics to keep all innocent lives safe, he gets in the way of the United States government’s affairs abroad. The President orders #MirrorMaster to kidnap Clark’s adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent, and burn down their home, warning Superman if he interferes with political affairs again, his parents will die. As #WonderWoman calls upon #Cyborg, #TheFlash and other members of the #JusticeLeague to help track down Superman’s family, the #Batman meets the U.S. President at The White House, commenting on how stupid he is to think he wouldn’t figure out he was behind Jonathan and Martha’s kidnapping and naive to think the Man of Steel wouldn’t seek revenge, especially in his current raging state. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman fights #Ares, the God of War, who questions her reasons to help Superman on this new path to inevitable tyranny and ultimately exposes her love for Superman. As Wonder Woman stabs Ares, he warns her if she aids Superman to have no restraint, there will be constant war and no use for him in the world. Once Wonder Woman leaves, she joins #GreenLantern and other JLA members to combat #Aquaman, who is using his Atlantean forces to save his underwater kingdom from Superman’s rising reign. As the battle ensues, Superman goes to the Batcave and confronts Bruce. Before their argument comes to a head, they meet with the Justice League and Aquaman. Although Batman tries to tell Orin to cease fire due to Superman’s rage, Superman, Wonder Woman and Shazam take Atlantis out of the water and place it in the Sahara Desert to make a point about who’s in charge. Knowing Batman went against Superman’s wishes, Clark declares Batman isn’t “with them”.
