I’m Not a Robot
So I watched a kdrama recently that really encouraged me so I wanted to share it :3
So. There is this guy with an allergy to humans:
due to trauma from relationships he had when he was a child. And if his cuteness alone is not enough to get you to watch, I have a list of reasons:
1. Kim Min Kyu (the guy’s name) shows a struggle similar to many mental illnesses.
Due to the unheard-ness of his problem, one can input a lot of mental illnesses into the place of the one he has in the show. Personally, this show encouraged me to keep fighting against my anxiety, OCD, physical ailments, and also to give myself a break. He displays similar symptoms to those of OCD in that he can’t eat food made by anyone other than himself, or he worries about if they messed with the food. Also, he has a lot of trouble interacting with people “normally,” because he has hardly ever had the chance to have a healthy relationship.
2. Strong female leads.
And by strong, I don’t necessarily mean they can beat up a room full of soldiers. Although I like me some of that too. We have the heroine:
Jo Ji-A
Who can be a force to reckon with at times, but she has her mistakes as well. But! Best part! She has an interest other than dating/marrying a man. She invents awesome stuff and keeps at it even when things aren’t going well.
Sun-Hye
Also, there’s her friend, who is just so comfortable, confident, and transparent and she’s great.
Ye Ri-El
We also have the “rival” for Min Kyu’s affections, who works at his company and is clearly intelligent, competent, has goals, confident, and compassionate. But also doesn’t put up with BS.
Pi
Finally (well sort of, there are more but these are my absolute faves), we have the research assistant to Professor Hong Baek-Kyun. I was a little dissapointed at the end with her (spoiler alert!!!) because they give her a makeover, and honestly I thought she was really cute before. But maybe that’s just me.
In any case, she is smart and hard working and takes care of people around her. In fact, she reminded me a bit of my sister xD
BTW, not all of those descriptions did them justice >.> definitely watch the show!
3. Gray areas.
There are for sure “villains,” but a lot of the characters do things that they end up apologizing for, and that includes the main characters. There are people that chose inactivity and silence instead of actively hurting a person, people who hurt people they care about, and romance doesn’t just fix everyone’s lives. Forgiveness takes time, understanding, and patience on all sides, and the show portrays that in a very interesting, fairly realistic, I think, manner. It shows the complex nature of have relationships with imperfect people.
Anyway, I really liked this show and found it encouraging. I hope this show can help/encourage someone else as well. ^_^ In any case, keep fighting, you’re doing great! There is hope, and you can get better!
he’s so extra and i love it
Forehead kisses just look so sweet. Especially if it's these two 😍
