Happy Friday!!!! Here is my MLB Immaculate Grid number 1089 for Thursday March 26, 2026.
Ok, I get it. The Boston Red Sox have been around since the beginning of the American League. 1901 for those keeping score. My point is I get it, many players have hit .300 or more for the Bosox in those 125 years. But how is it that less than 1% picked Mo Vaughn. Big Mo Vaughn was a beast for the Red Sox. From 1994 - 1998 Vaughn hit .300 or more with career best .326 in 1996. The man hit for power and average.
Once again I got lucky with the Pirates. John Candelaria and Jay Bell were easy choices. That Pirates/Giants box was hard. Well actually, it isn't hard if I had chosen Barry Bonds. But that would have been easy...and probably would have busted my grid. No way I score 21 going that route. But I digress. After that, I drew a blank. I vaguely remembered that Melky Cabrera played in Pittsburgh.
Scu-scu-scutaro...my friend Alice would sing this to Phil Collins' Sussudio during Scutaro's at-bats during the 2012 World Series. Can not hear that whenever I think of Scutaro.
I always try to find a way to throw in my 1970s Yankees. Willie Randolph only had one .300 season. Speaking of the 1970s, Davey Lopes was probably the best 2B in the Dodgers time in L.A. (sorry Steve Sax.) He made up an amazing infield with Steve Garvey (1B) Ron Cey (3B) and Bill Russell (SS.)
Anyway, hope you enjoy the first Friday night of the 2026 season. With having TMobile as my cellular provider, I once again got a free season of MLB TV. So I'm flipping among the current games that are on. Have a great night!!!
