Rei Suwa & Kazuki Kurusu:
I think that their friendship should prevail because the name of the anime is Buddy daddies first of all…they are buddies!!! And fathers!!! They helped raise their adopted daughter together!! Also unrelated to the fact that they have a daughter but their friendship is so strong that Kazuki saved Rei from his old abusive life and pit of depression solely because he didn’t like seeing his friend live like that. And he gave Rei a reason to live and to leave his past of organized crime!!! They have gone through hell and back with one another and were both there for each other when dealing with their respective childhood traumas (they had some very heartfelt conversations with one another on a car ride home when Rei was asking if they could change despite their poor upbringings). Also they are literally in a platonic marriage with each other at the end of the show! They both have similar/matching rings but Kazuki says that he was with other girls, and they weren’t in romantic love with each-other throughout the show!
Mango & Brash:
well you see they are investigators and also best friends. they are such best friends in fact that when brash was out of action they had to make a robotic version of him because nobody else was a better match with mango. the besties <3

January 2020 Wrap-Up

It’s the end of the first month of 2020! I read 14 books this month (not counting all the picture books I’ve been reading) and I definitely had three stand out favorites (coincidentally they are all middle grade books):
Voyage of the Frostheart by Jamie Littler: This is a debut fantasy novel by a previously established illustrator. The world building was amazing, the artwork was gorgeous, and I cannot wait to see where this story goes next! I wouldn’t be surprised if this one gets a few honors or awards.
Howl’s Moving Castle by Diane Wynne Jones: Up until I read this, I had only ever seen the movie Howl’s Moving Castle. A lot of people were telling me how different the two were; there were differences, but I definitely have a respect for both the movie AND book. Though they’re completely different mediums, they were both able to capture an amazing sense of awe and wonder as Sophie tries to undo the spell on her!
InvestiGators by John Patrick Green: This is a teaser blurb because InvestiGators doesn’t come out until February 25th! I received an ARC copy at work (directly from the publisher, so thank you for that) and I dove in to see what this punny title was about. It didn’t disappoint. Puns run rampant throughout this graphic novel and I was laughing through most of it. I think adults and children alike will fall in love with this new series.
