Harold really is the father to the most screwed up individuals. Like, here's this man who believes so deeply about the importance of human life that he taught a machine to actually care about people dying, and he's surrounded by morally compromised assassins and murderers. His best friend has equally homicidal and suicidal tendencies. His sister/niece/Stockholm-syndrome figure gets a kick out of tormenting people and her weapon of choice is two guns, always. His other adopted member of his family has a personality disorder and gets more enjoyment out of shooting people than talking to them. His dog is also professionally trained to kill and attack on command.

Harold really is just living a life-time full of karma in the form of his found family.

Nothing makes you feel more like you're cosplaying humanity than being aromantic and trying to have a conversation with someone about how you wish that some characters could just stay friends.
