The anthology Mystery in Space 68 was published with a cover date of June 1961. In the segment The Sleeping Peril from Mars, a pilot Captain Alan Woods was about to become the first human to reach Mars. He made his historic journey in 1981. He encountered a gas that puts him to sleep and when he awakened, the year was 2106 and Mars had been colonized by the Klurr Empire.
