just a list of fics that make me wish i could wipe my brain to experience them all over again that i read in april :)

WILLMACK

significant lover by linearity (110k)

while on IR, will gets a boyfriend... i first came across this fic a while ago and was immediately drawn to it when there were about two chapters posted i think?? but when i started reading chapter one i very quickly realised it was absolutely going to consume all of my thoughts for the foreseeable future so i forced myself to very (im)patiently wait until it was completed and i’m so glad i did!!

i had to split my reading across two days and during just that sub 24hour wait i felt like i was going about my day with a hole in my chest because i have never ever felt so viscerally bad for mack in any fic before or had so much sympathy for The Way He Is. my heart was clenching so much during the first chapter especially… just heart wrenching reveal after reveal :’’) and had literal physical bodily reactions to mack always putting his foot in it. this fic is just so painfully relatable my chest ached so bad. i wanted nothing more than to stay up all night and consume this fic into my very being but the wait just made everything hit so much harder.  

it’s so glorious seeing both sides of the miscommunication in this fic, i feel like i don’t see that too often and it was done so well because i was begging the both of them to please for the love of god use their words the whole time!! everything turns out amazing, willmack endgame. they are truly so insane and flawed about each other but that doesn't matter to them!! smut is so hot and the softness that follows it entirely worth the wait, the build up is absolutely delicious. sorry will's bf! you were always gonna pale in comparison :) <3

historical fantasy abo! willmackleno but still hugely willmack centered. omega mack must marry will and produce an heir to the throne. beautiful worldbuilding and of mack opening up and falling in love with will. will is so lovely the entire time. leno element is an amazing bonus and so clever and i shall not say anymore... i urge you to read🫶

this is still a wip but i must simply yell about how much i already love this fic! follows tom and wyatt's journey to making the stars team very accurately. lots of wonderful first meetings and getting to know each other. wyatt gets kind of completely besotted and knows exactly what he wants with tom, but it's fine because tom get's completely besotted too <3 can't wait for more of this

oh and not to rpf too hard on main but it is genuinely insane that jo didn't go to nate's wedding. they've known each other their whole lives and jo didn't go to his wedding. theres a part of me that thinks nate was hurt that jo didn't re-sign with the same sweetheart discount he agreed to those first two seasons and also that jo was hurt that nate couldnt get them to keep him for what he was worth. maybe they couldnt bear to see each other knowing that for the first time in fourteen years they werent going to choose each other. and that for all the times they chose each other, the only thing it came to was having the other once, twice, then never again. whatever.

just an amazing look at all different kinds of relationships for the two of them in the future. soooo sweet and also made my heart ache. always the way when so much time has passed and you can only look back and think what if...?

this one was sooooo good!! jamie accidentally wishes trevor away on a shooting star. as a result, jamie finds himself on a trevor-less ducks team and he feels like he's going completely crazy. eventually he finds out trevor is a student at bu still... i will not say anything more, ugh. this was amazing jamie introspection and character study.

dallas stars college football au!!! soooo good, i love their dynamics in this and the background of their lives living in texas with their families are built up with such good detail. i learnt so much about college football too! they are so good for each other and hot together but they also have a lot of things to figure out together. coming of age! you will laugh! you will cry! you will LOVE!!! first fic is tyler pov (college) and second is jamie pov (what follows) :)

nate's a wolf, jo is not! wasn't sure of the direction this one was going in but then when it clicked i was just SO hooked... nate knows he and jo are bonded, but he can't tell him until the draft because ppl have abused the system in the past (bonded pairs have to be drafted together). so jo is drafted straight to the avs with nate, unbeknownst to jo that any of this is going to happen beforehand... absolutely scrumptious. the fall out is perfect and of course the eventual coming together of nate and jo as bondmates!!!!

sentinel and guide au! i'd never read this type of au before, but now because of this fic i'll be on the lookout for it for other pairings too!! as a guide, it's jo's job to regulate sensory stimuli that sentinels are particularly sensitive to. of course, jo is the only guide who was ever able to guide nate properly, so he ends up back on the avs. lots of great angst and jealousy here... they figure it out eventually and when they do there's just no stopping them hehe <3
