When I went to Auckland over the holidays I took a bunch of yoga classes, a nice luxury to get out of the house everyday, afforded by the amazing Grandad who would take baby out for walks while I was gone and Dad slept in. One of the classes did a lot of cross legged work in both an effective and creative way. It's been a long time since I've taken (or taught) a class that did such things but boy I tell ya, I really needed it. Since then I've done my best to start re-incorporating it into my practices. This type of work helps to releases tightness in the hips in a unique way while targeting the IT bands. You can do many postures with crossed legs, such as down dog, standing forward fold, plank, etcetera. This woman also taught a variation of lunge with the feet crossed but it's too hard to explain and I couldn't get it into the camera shot. Maybe next time. Anyway, what this woman reminded me was the importance of changing things up and how effective this is for healing the body (and mind)...again something that we will be working on in the FREE True Self Academy program called Journey Back. At this point it seems obvious it won't launch in January, hopefully by the end of February! I'll keep you all updated. In the mean time, find some variation in your practice and life. #girlpower #yogamama #yogatribe #trueselfacad #journeyback #yogateacher
