people who are way better at tetris than me making what would usually be "mistakes" on purpose, and quickly, so they can use the t-spin to generate extra garbage for the person playing puyo puyo, who is so good at generating combos that it makes me want to re-evaluate my life

17. are you a member of any clubs or associations?

hmm i'm not sure what counts as clubs or associations, but i recently joined a choir with my old conductor! having a lot of fun, she is an incredible conductor who is very exacting and picks great repertoire so i'm feeling musically challenged in way i haven't in ages. otherwise i guess i am on the outlist for spectra (LGBTQ math association). i don't remember if i still have my AMS membership through my institution.

i tried to reblog your reblog of my reblog about stem/humanities but it didn’t go through i think because op blocked me??? didn’t know that applied to reblogs of reblogs as well but anyway i wanted to let you know that you are totally right about hierarchy being the problem not just who gets to sit at the top and also that you were right about linguistics having a lot to say about to what extent our mother tongues influence our cognition. the concept is called linguistic relativity if you want to learn more about it! what’s funny is that linguists use aspects of science, social science, and humanities to answer their questions about language which kinda proves that being good at science doesn’t make you bad at humanities or vice versa.

And yea, linguistics is pretty fascinating, I actually took an elective class from the computer linguistics course in my uni and it was pretty interesting getting a glimpse at what they get up to! I sometimes watch linguistics videos on youtube as well, it's neat stuff! Before that I had heard of Sapir-Worf from the movie Arrival with Amy Adams and pretty much instantly found articles debunking the theory, so that was funny in retrospect XD
