31 Day Results from The Juicy Rx. Eat Clean, Drink Green.
Ten Reasons to Juice
1. Cleansing and Alkalizing
Green leafy vegetables and grasses are the most cleansing and alkalizing to the body. By juicing them you are giving your body what it needs to balance your pH level and keep yourself in optimal health.
2. Enzymes
Freshly extracted juices are the best source of live enzymes.
3. Nutrients, vitamins, and minerals
Juiced fruits and vegetables provide your body with high amounts of absorbable chlorophyll, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and phytonutrients.
4. Easier to digest and absorb
Juicing takes the strain off the digestive system. By extracting the juice from the fiber, it predigests the fruits and vegetables for you, making the nutrients more readily available for easy absorption. Fiber in the diet is important, though, so drink your vegetables and eat your fruit.
5. Easier to consume
Years of eating nutritionally deficient food means that a lot of alkalizing green foods are needed to rebalance our bodies. We couldn’t eat enough greens to address this imbalance. Juicing provides a simple and effective way to get maximum goodness into the body without having to graze on grass all day long.
6. True hydration
The planet is over 70 percent water and so are our bodies. Our blood consists of around 94 percent water. Foods in their natural and raw state have a high water content. By drinking these water-rich fruit and vegetable juices we can ensure and enjoy proper hydration.
7. Antioxidants
Green juice provides the body with huge amounts of antioxidants. Antioxidants fortify our immune systems and stop our bodies rusting from the inside out.
8. Delivers oxygen to your cells
When our bodies are acidic the red blood cells clump together and oxygen cannot get to all the cells. Juicing alkalizes the blood so that the red blood cells can flow freely once again and deliver oxygen to each and every cell in your body. When your body is charged with oxygen your mind is clear and sharp and you feel energized.
9. Disease prevention
It is no coincidence that strong therapeutic green vegetable, sprout, grass, and fruit juices form the cornerstone of every successful disease prevention center and clinic around the world.
10. Calming
The magnesium and chlorophyll in green juices soothes and calms the nervous system and minimizes stress in the body. (Source: rawlivingfoods)

Hi! (: I was considering juicing and i came across your blog. I'm curious, how much did it cost you per day to juice? not including buying the juicer. I don't have a job atm and i only have my parents for all of the stuff i will need so yeah, lol. Thanks!!
I usually make enough juice for three people at a time, twice a day so I'm juicing quite a lot! My usual ingredients are cabbage, kale, celery, cucumber, apples and oranges as a base with whatever other fruits I can find thrown in to add sweetness. Organic fruits and veg are always a bit more expensive than regular produce but even still I'd estimate I'm spending around $6 a day. (Could be more, or maybe a bit less depending on the quantities I use.)
Any way you look at it, juicing is MUCH more affordable than going to Starbucks for coffee every morning or drinking energy drinks. Also you'll crave less starchy/sugary foods during and after your juice feast/fast so you won't need to spend extra money snacking. :)
I recommend you make a list of your favorite fruits and veggies and go to the store with your parents the next time they shop to compare prices. Start juicing with the most affordable veggies and if you decide to commit to a longer juice plan you can rework your budget to include room for more expensive produce, or add agave nectar or bee pollen to your shopping list to give your juices a boost. Hope this helps! :)
Setting my queue for the weekend, I'll be active again on Monday to answer all your questions! Anon is on, please feel free to ask me anything about weight loss and juice dieting.
I thought smoothies and juices were the same thing? What's the difference?
There's actually a big difference!
Basically, blending fruits and vegetables doesn’t make a very concentrated, “super” juice because pulp takes up space so you have to use less ingredients.
When you juice your fruit & veg instead of blending them (making a smoothie) you can pack a TON of servings into one teeny glass. Think about it: could you eat a head of cabbage, three stalks of kale, a whole cucumber and four oranges in one meal? (Or, could you fit all that into a blender?) I sure couldn’t but that’s what I juiced this morning!
i know a lot of people prefer juices because you can plug your nose and it basically tastes like water, but i absolutely love the smooth, thick consistency of smoothies. can i get the benefits of a juice in smoothie form? or is there at least a way to thicken a juice up so it's a little creamier and more...i guess hearty?
Smoothies aren't the same as juices, but you can definitely achieve a similar effect by adding ice or greek yogurt to your juice! I prefer making an ice blended juice when I want a thicker, "more hearty" juiced breakfast.
I have friends who use greek yogurt as well. I've never tried this method but they swear it's delicious! Let me know which recipe you decide to try out. :)

Click the meal plan below to check out a great blog on how to lose weight the easy and healthy way by combining juice and "real" food! I promise you’ll love this “diet.” With delicious breakfasts ideas like the one below, who wouldn’t?
Breakfast: Chopped fresh nectarines, peaches and slivered almonds placed in a bowl with coconut flakes over the top, and fresh almond milk. If it’s wintertime, use apples and pears instead of nectarines and peaches.
For my most recent anon,
I accidentally deleted your ask, sorry!! To answer your question about the difference between fresh juice and bottled juices like V8, Odwalla and Naked:
Everything in a can or bottle is sterile or dead, meaning the natural enzymes are gone, as they die through a process called oxidation. At the present time, there is a federal law that prohibits manufacturers from selling fresh juices without having to go through a processor such as flash pasteurization or full pasteurization which kills all the benefit.
