what is the juice theory? 👀

It comes from episode 8x06 when Eddie is talking to Father Brian aka Hot Priest. The priest sees Eddie grab a juice, then put it down and buy the water instead. In the dialogue, juice is a metaphor for joy. Basically the priest asks him why he was punishing himself (aka not buying the juice).

So the theory is that Eddie is punishing himself and not letting himself experience the things that would make him happy. How the buddie fandom has interpreted that is that he’s repressing his sexuality and thus punishing himself for not letting himself be the person he wants to be (or be with the person he wants to be with aka Buck).

Also whenever we see Eddie drink juice we go a little crazy because it’s kind of a representation that he’s no longer punishing himself. And maybe even a step closer to fully admitting to himself, or others, or Buck, who he really is and what he really wants.

Hopefully that makes sense?
