because they know he's uncomfortable with women flirting with him. women hang on his arms and bat their eyelashes and make salacious comments... he always slips away, nervous laughter and rubbing the back of his head, making an excuse to get away (Billy is only 12 and no one knows and he doesn't like the way the women speak to him)

because he's always got that starry eyed look on his face when he talks to Batman and Superman, even though he's been heroing as long as they have. yet Wonder Woman and him have a far more casual relationship. (billy always wanted to be Batman and Superman growing up, and Diana is more of a sister to him than anything)

because he excitedly showed the team pictures of him at Fawcett Pride last summer, rainbows on his cheeks and glitter all over his cape (it was Pedro's first year going to pride so they all went, and Billy went as Marvel to dissuade protesters)

because he tenses up when people ask about his civilian life, and gets defensive, saying his relationships aren't league business (he means his familial relationships, he doesn't want to give too much away and have them find how he's actually a kid)

and the league starts to wonder... does Captain Marvel think they don't support him? Cue aggressively LGBTQIA+ supportive League, trying to show the Captain they care.

(Billy is so confused, why is everyone telling him that love is love and that they'll care about him no matter how he feels? Why are adults so fucking weird?!)
