hi I'm really interested in your thoughts on 1)June Covington as scarlet witch(and her power). 2)standalone character. 3)how she compares to Wanda Maximoff.

I don't think there is any worthwhile comparison between these characters. June Covington, more widely known as "Toxie Doxie" is a supervillain who was recruited to Norman Osborn's "Dark Avengers" as the "Scarlet Witch." Most of the characters in this team were villains posing as recognizable heroes, and some of them do have connections to the hero they were impersonating-- Bullseye and Hawkeye, Akihiro and Wolverine, etc.-- but there is no relationship between June and Wanda. They don't even have similar powers. Wanda's abilities are hard to replicate, and I suppose that, in context, it makes more sense to replace her with a tricked out scientist than some other witch or spellcaster, but among the other Dark Avengers, June as the Scarlet Witch always felt like a weird choice.

I do think she can be a really fun character. The super smart, morally unhinged hot female doctor/scientist isn't exactly an original trope, and in some ways, June feels a little reductive standing next to Karla Sofen, but she's also way more committed to the bit than Karla and I really like her current design. I wouldn't mind seeing her in more stuff.

I've always had complicated feelings towards the Dark Avengers run (in short: I don't like the plot and the only reason I touched it is because of Barney lol). But this dumpster fire has one of my favorite covers ever, which is THIS:

And the reason why I love this so much is because it was based on the famous photo of a sailor kissing a stranger "V-J Day in Times Square":

If I'm remember it correctly, this guy was kissing random girls on the street and at one point he grabbed this woman and kissed her against her will. AND I love the idea that in the Dark Avengers version, June is the one who is forcing a kiss on the sailor and SUCKS HIS SOUL OUT OF HIS BODY. It's wild, beautful and I love it. Very fitting for June if you ask me.

ALSO the second reason I love this is because of Barney's goofy face:

There is no reason for him to be on the cover since it still would look perfectly fine without him, but he is here and it looks sily and awkward 😭 but I love it.

June Covington’s Scarlet Witch costume in Dark Avengers #190

I have a theory that joss Whedon combined Jean grey and June Covington to make Wanda. Bc June Covington was anti Tony stark, dark scarlet witch and was basically a prop for Norman (which Wanda is for Von Strocker) and she also voluntarily experimented on herself. And Jean greys power set obvi. Am I wrong? Tell me I’m wrong

For PINKTOBER’S “Relax” prompt, the wonderfully horrible Toxic Doxie aka Dr. June Covington! So, why her, and why in this pose for the “Relax” prompt? Well, June’s a mad scientist type who has made a lot of modifications to herself. One such modification is glands that distribute megadoses of Relaxin (a protein hormone that in the normal body relaxes the ligaments in the pelvis and softens and widens the cervix for childbirth) to allow her joints to dislocate with ease. Her joints relax, if you will ;) Toxic Doxie is like, terrible, you guys. Like “worse than Shaw” horrible. I like her a lot, even if her costume is a PAIN, and I’m glad I found a good prompt for her! Especially since I kinda wished I had used her in the “Poison” prompt along with Viper---I mean “Toxic” is right there in her name, and trust me, she lives up to it! Pose referenced from THIS PHOTO
