Summary: When Arthur Ketch asks for someone to go on a hunt with him, it's Dean that gets the short straw, and he hates it for more than one reason. They end up in a small vacation village that has been seeing too many unexplained murders, but the M.O doesn't fit any usual suspects. At least for Dean, because Arthur Ketch hasn't been much help so far. Something is going on with the ex-British Man of Letters, which makes Dean extremely worried, and it makes it hard for him to ignore his feelings for the British bastard. Doesn't help that they end up snowed in together.

Dean had no idea how he had ended up in this situation — or rather, couldn't actually believe he had drawn the literal short straw and had to go on a hunt alone with Ketch. His usual lack of luck. Before then, he had tried to spend as little time as possible with the man, unable to understand his own feelings whenever they had to interact — or, rather, unable to acknowledge them for what they really were. Dean knew he couldn't run from it forever, and he also knew that his family disliked or straight out hated Ketch, which made him want to never think about it. Ever. Maybe if he ignored those feelings, they would go away. Sighing, he slumped on the couch, holding his hot cup of coffee with both hands, grateful for the warmth against his city fingers. He didn't want to think about it, didn't want to feed whatever stupid ideas his brain was creating about Ketch — a man Dean had thought he had hated, especially after the whole ordeal with his mother; except that wasn't true. There was something pulling him towards the ex-Man of Letters, a connection deep and raw and strong and terrifying, which always made his blood run hot in his veins. Something he was trying his best not to give attention to or fully name, afraid of the consequences. Something he hadn't felt in a long time, since Cassie and Lisa. Why him of all people? Couldn't it be Cas like everyone wanted? Apparently not. Ever since he had understood what was going on, Dean had started to avoid looking into those gray eyes that weren't as icy as everyone around him thought, their tenderness visible only if one really went to look for it. Instead, he had tried to think about anything other than the sarcastic responses hiding double meanings and the annoying need to hear that stupid posh British accent when either of them was back from a hunt. Dean was managing.
