It kinda just happened.

You're the technician that’s assigned to him when things go wrong. Arm gets ripped off, he goes to you to get it put back on. When he needs his system rebooted at 3 am he’s at your door and doesn’t care if your half asleep he needs those new updates

He knew he needed you from the time he was assigned to you for repairs. He enjoys your company.

You guys don’t call it a relationship right away in fear something bad happens or one of you doesn’t enjoy it.

His favorite sound in the entire galaxy is your laugh, it makes his motherboards light up.

Visits you when he has nothing to do for the day, he doesn’t care if you're busy. He just wants to be around you.

Sometimes he thinks about life without you and comes to the conclusion that he would not be able to function. You have to reassure him that everything will be ok.

He hates to see you sad and hates it even more if he’s made you sad. He tones the sarcasm down with you because he has said some very insensitive things that have hurt your feelings in the past.

Before he leaves for missions he hangs out with you. Just in case he doesn’t come back he wants to leave you with happy memories.

Always stays close to you when you have to go on missions with him. Even if it’s just to go to the markets and explore, he needs to make sure you're safe.

K2so’s guilty pleasure Is watching late night holoshows with you.

He won’t power down for the night until he knows you're in bed and asleep. He will check on you when you have gone to your sleeping quarters for the night. If you're not asleep he will be there until you do.

He enjoys watching you sleep, he finds the rhythmic breathing and warmth you produce intriguing. He calls you his personal heater.

He didn’t get the appeal of cuddling until he started cuddling with you. He is the biggest cuddle bug.

If insomnia hits he’s staying up with you no matter what. He keeps reminding you that humans need a good 8 hours of sleep to function. He is trying to coax you to fall asleep when you have been up for two and a half hours after the normal time you fall asleep.

Poe could hear laughing from around the corner, the laughter of a child. As he went to investigate, he found your droid and caregiver, K-2, staring at a holotape activated before him. The video was you as a child, running away from your father as he dove to catch you. Even Poe had to give a little smirk at your former self, you were so rambunctious.

“I wish you could have seen them grow up, Cassian.” K-2SO’s robotic voice spoke to the old tape, well aware that no one would answer him back. “It happened so fast, the worst part is that y/n is dating now. A pilot, of all people.” He went on to complain, making Poe shake his head with a silent chuckle as he continued to chuckle.

“Whatcha doing?” You snuck up on your boyfriend and wrapped your arms around him from behind, startling him a bit.

“Oh, nothing. Your buddy over there is watching your baby videos, maybe you should join him. They seem really sweet, tear-jerking, even.”

“And another one bites the dust,” you stated after shooting a Stormtrooper. “Along with another ancient reference,” Kaytoo quipped. You rolled your eyes with a smirk. “I am saving your imperial ass, so it’s not like you have much room to talk.” Kaytoo matched your tone. “I might just prefer my chances without the horrible references.” You chuckled. “The only thing horrible is your taste in music. What is it again? Just a few droids speaking to each other?”

Cassian ran in front of you two, shooting some Stormtroopers you had missed. His face was focused on the mission.

“It’s great that you two are getting along,” Cassian interrupted, “but would you two mind focusing?” “Gladly,” you teased, “Anything to stop Kay’s criticism of the classics.” “Statistically speaking, what you listen to is no longer considered classics, given how long it’s been since it was created-” “Guys,” Cassian called.

Kaytoo and you shared a good-natured smirk. Silently agreeing to pick it up later, the two of you focused on helping the captain.

Programming Part Two- A K2SO x Reader story

 This wasn’t supposed to happen. But it did. (Name) fell in love. Not with anybody from the Rebellion; no. She fell in love with one of her patients. A droid.

Specifically, the droid that brought her to the rebellion: K2SO. How it happened, she had no idea. But love can often be mysterious.

Every time Kaytoo would come in for repairs, (Name) would fall even harder for the sassy droid. He never failed to make her laugh, even when she was feeling down.

“Is there something wrong, Miss (Name)?” Kaytoo asked one day, during his repairs.

“What? No, there’s nothing wrong,” (Name) said a little too quickly.

“I am 99% certain that there is something amiss,” Kaytoo said.

“And the other 1%?” (Name) asked, as she replaced some of the old wires with new ones.

“The other 1% says that you are just acting normal, and that there is nothing to worry about. But I am certain that there is something wrong, and I will figure it out.”

(Name) just chuckled and shook her head. But the fact was, the droid would try and figure out what was wrong with her. And then he’ll find out that she is in love with him.

  In the days that passed, (Name) tried to act as normal as possible. But the longing in her heart told her that Kaytoo wouldn’t last long. It was only a matter of time before the droid was destroyed beyond repair.

“I think I figured it out,” Kaytoo said one day. (Name) froze for a second, before she continued with her repairs.

“You’re in love with someone,” Kaytoo went on, slowly.

“Really?” she asked.

“Yes.”

“How did you figure that one out?”

“The other droids tell me you fuss a lot when someone’s gone.”

“Of course, I fuss. You guys are my buddies.”

“But you get particularly fussy when I’m gone. Per the other droids.”

(Name) blushed.

“Okay fine, I’m in love with you,” (Name) confessed, setting down her tools and looking at Kaytoo. He tilted his head slightly.

“Odd for a human to fall in love with a droid,” Kaytoo said.

“You are my greatest, Kaytoo. None of the other droids match up to you. Not even the ones I create myself.”

Kaytoo was silent for a moment. “If I had emotions, I would say that I love you too. You are kind to us, gentle. You always make sure we are alright, and you always speak to us like we are one of you.”

“Oh, Kaytoo,” (Name) said. She leaned up and kissed the droid’s forehead.

“You will be heart-broken when I am destroyed,” Kaytoo observed.

“That I will be,” (Name) said with a nod, tears in her eyes. “But I will always love you, even when you are gone.”

a/n: NOT part of twenty six minutes

“K-2.”

“Yes?”

“Can you explain why you’re in my room?”

As soon as you were done with your shift in the hangar, you headed straight to your room, not bothering with stopping by the dining hall. You were exhausted dealing with pilots while your team was fatigued and understaffed that you just needed to pass out for an hour or ten. Barely seeing, you stumbled down the halls of the base to your room, punching in the code to enter, and walked straight into the metal chassis of the reprogrammed Imperial droid. 

Your face ached and your nose felt tender, scowling as you fumbled around for the lights. The patience you usually had when dealing with Rebellion affairs had been sapped. 

“Get out!” you ordered, pointing at the door. 

“Please let me explain,” K-2 says.

“Out!”

“Cassian told me to go here,” he explains, despite you very obviously not wanting to talk to him. You sigh, walking around him to sit on your bed, trying to relieve the ache in your feet. You unzipped your jumpsuit and tied the sleeves around your waist. 

“Why?” you bemoaned. “Why can’t that boy leave me alone for a single day?” You fall back onto the bed, bouncing a little as you stare at the grimy ceiling. 

“Technically he hasn’t bothered you today,” he corrects. “He bothered me. Much different.”

“Whatever the case is, Cassian telling you to come here isn’t a good enough explanation,” you grumble. The next time you saw him, you were going to rip him a new one. There’s no way you can comfortably sleep with a fucking seven-foot tall droid looming over you like some ridiculous statue. “Did he have something to do?”

“He said he was meeting someone,” he answers, picking up a little bauble of yours before putting it back down, disinterested. 

“And he couldn’t take you with him? Doesn’t he take you to meet his informants?” K-2 looks at you almost curiously. 

“Not that kind of meeting.” You stare at him with a confused expression before your eyebrows shoot into your hairline. 

“Oh.”

“Yes.”

You sigh again, running a hand over your face as you thought of what you could do with him. “You wouldn’t mind facing the wall while I sleep, would you?” you ask him weakly. 

“I would very much mind.”

“Of course you would.”

“Is there a reason you’re blushing like that?” or “Why are you lying to me?” with k2? I miss him

“Why are you lying to me?”

“K-2, stop,” you sigh, pushing K-2’s hands off you and stepping out of his shadow. 

“You said you wanted to talk,” he says, turning to look at you, but he doesn’t make a move to come closer. “Usually when you say that, it means--”

“I know what it usually means,” you jump in, raising your hands and fighting down a blush. “But this time, I just… I just wanted to talk.” K-2 rolls his eyes, or at least, you think he does, his head moving as if he were. 

“Okay, if we aren’t here for our usual rendezvous,” he says, “then what could you possibly want to talk about?” You’ve never really been scared of K-2 before, but now you’re feeling something scarily akin to that. He looks at you expectantly as you rock back and forth on your heels. You wonder if he knows that you’ve been practicing saying this to him in the mirror several times before walking up to him. 

You square your shoulders and try to look as confident as you can when facing a seven-foot security droid. “We can’t keep doing this,” you finally say. “I don’t want to… continue whatever we have going on.”

You don’t know what you were expecting in response, but you certainly weren’t expecting silence. A snarky response, maybe a jab saying that he was getting bored anyways, anything but the way he stares at you as his internal mechanisms whirl. The silence gets uncomfortable. 

“Um… K-2…?”

“Why are you lying to me?” he finally asks. You balk. 

“I’m not-- Why do you think I’m lying?” you stammer. K-2 takes a step forward, but you stay rooted to your spot. 

“Your heart rate is elevated,” he says. Another step. “You can’t look me in the eye.” Another step. “You’re sweating.” Another step, and now you’re pinned against the meeting table that you’ve grown so used to being fucked on. “And you never denied it, either.”

“K-2--”

“We can keep doing it,” K-2 says, “and you want to continue this.” 

Did Cassian implement an intimidation module in him?

“So what’s the real issue?” 

“Cassian’s onto us,” you blurt out, looking up at K-2 with wide eyes. “That-that night at the cantina, he… he…”

After K-2 had practically thrown Varon across the room in response to his lewd advances, Cassian had asked if “something was going on between you and K-2”. You had just rolled your eyes and forced laughter, asking if something was in the drink before changing the conversation. But that seed of paranoia was planted, and you swore that every time you talked to K-2, Cassian was watching you. “If word gets out, I don’t… I don’t know what would happen. I--”

“Cassian already knows.”

“-- would probably be--” You pause. “Wait, what?!” K-2 takes a step back. 

“Cassian already knows,” he repeats. “I told him.”

“You what?!”

“After the cantina, Cassian asked me, so I told him.” You gape at him. “I saw no point in lying.” 

“You… K-2…” you croak. K-2 fills in the silence for you, hoisting you up onto the meeting table as he tugs at your clothes impatiently.

“So are we going to continue this or not?”

“it could be worse.” “You aren’t the one bleeding.” “Look, you are still alive. Stop whining.” with our favorite robot K-2SO 👀

“Look, you are still alive. Stop whining.”

This was the first and last time you agreed to go on a mission with Cassian and K-2SO. 

“Cassian, once this damn blaster shot is healed and I have full use of my arm, I am going to strangle you,” you say calmly. It’s a stark difference to how frantic Cassian is trying to staunch the already sluggish blood flow and wrap it up, intent on hauling ass out of this scummy back alley and send you straight to the infirmary back at base. K-2 is on the lookout, standing guard in front of you and surveying the entrance to make sure no one glances twice to see what was going on. 

“It could be worse,” K-2 says mildly, glancing behind him for a moment to see how progress was going. You shift to try and get comfortable, wincing when your shoulder moves too much and rolling your eyes when Cassian chides you. 

“Stay still.”

“That’s rich coming from you,” you say to K-2, ignoring Cassian and frowning as you crane your head up to look at the droid. “You aren’t the one bleeding-- ow! Cassian!” K-2 sighs. 

“You are still alive,” he says, slowly as if you were a child. “Stop whining.” You scowl. 

“I happen to whine the perfect amount for someone in my situation,” you say. 

“You whine too much,” both Cassian and K-2 say at the same time. Frowning, you lean back against the wall just as Cassian finishes tying up the makeshift bandage made out of your already ruined shirt. 

“I hate both of you.”
