Life’s good when you get to spend it on the edge of an escarpment. The travel bug in me is itching for another adventure abroad.

Last week I was in Nelspruit with Amy Jane and my family (the boys joined us on Friday). It was an amazing week. I didn't get as much work done as I would have liked but I did a lot of other things. We did a lot of adventuring. There are sandstone caves that are a local secret. I needed to see them. I didn't realise you had to climb down an extremely steep rock face. I freaked out a bit going down but then I realised I would have to go back up. I'm quite seriously scared of heights. The caves were magical and totally worth it but it wasn't an experience I would repeat soon (but I will go back). But I did it. This was a huge NSV for me. I'm suffering today because my muscles are screaming at me but it was one of the best days of my entire life. It doesn't look steep in the pic but it was scary to someone with short legs and no muscles. 🙊😅 #kaapsehoop #kaapschehoop #sandstonecaves #adventure #life #love #nelspruit #weightlossjourney #strongsmartcapableworthy #weightlosstransformation #nsv #ketolife #diabeticlife #extremeweightloss #bouldering #fun
Another enjoyable hike done at one of our favourite places, Kaapsehoop!
My 2 cents on the Hoot ‘n Anny Weekend in the Lowveld https://tinyurl.com/y6raz6g5
Kaapsehoop's escarpment walking trail
Kaapsehoop is definitely our favourite place to visit on the weekend. It's 33 kilometers outside Mbombela - Mpumalanga province. The area is rich in history and nature.
There are a number of hiking trail in the area, but our favourite thing to do is hiking through the escarpment.
It's a 20-minute walk through the sandstone rock formation and grassland-like landscape.
The hike is pleasant and easy, anyone can do it. Through the maze of rocks and grasslands, there are indigenous plants and flowers adding to the lush untapped natural environment.
At the edge of the escarpment - there's a stunning view overlooking the Barberton Valley and dropping at least 1000 meters.
It's a secret spot to catch the amazing Lowveld sunset or sunrise over the mountains.
Remember to always take the scenic route!
