Don’t Fear, Daddy’s Here

Pairings: Thor x Reader

Warnings: None

Request: Thor x reader request, where their daughter is scared of a thunderstorm and so the reader calls Thor back home and when he arrives he holds her close and tells her stories about how the storm isn’t so bad?

I wake to the sound of thunder and lie in bed for a moment waiting for the next sound to follow. As I expected there is a loud wail from the room across from my own. Sighing I stand up and squint through the darkness as I make my way across the room. 

I hear the sound of Kaari's door open and slam shut. I open the door and smile tiredly at my daughter whose face was tear-streaked and nose which was runny. "Oh," I sigh and pick her up, "it's alright." She buries her face into the crook of my neck and cries softly. 

Another sound of thunderclaps and shakes our entire home. Kaari cries louder her body shaking and trembling with her cries. "I want daddy," she whimpers. I groan and hug her close to my body, "I-I know honey but... daddy's working right now, back at Asgard. Remember?" She cries harder and shakes her head, "I want Daddy."

"A-Alright," I sigh, "Here." I set her down on my bed and hold up a finger, "Wait here, I'll be right back before you can count to five." She nods and pulls up my blanket to her face. I smile softly and rush out of the room and into hers, grabbing her blanket and her Loki plush toy. I hurry back just in time for some more Thunder. Kaari makes grabby hands at me and sobs, I hand her the blanket and toy and wrap her up. Kissing her on her forehead I smile and whisper, "I'm going to call for Daddy, okay?"

"Okay," she whispers softly. 

"You hide underneath the blankets and I'll be right here," I tell her and pull my blankets over her head. Kaari smiles weakly and snuggles into Loki before lying down. I turn and walk towards the window and looks up to the sky, "Alright Heimdall, Thor told me all about how you see all and hear all so listen up, you tell Thor I told him to get his ass here stat. Understand?"

I sigh and walk back over the Kaari and pat the lump where she is. "Kaari?" I hear a mumble in response, "I've called for him, alright?"

She pokes her head out and I smile, "Hello."

"Is the storm gone?"

Thunder answers the question for me and lightning brightens the room for a moment. I grimace and look at her sympathetically. She cries softly and covers her face with her blankie and plush toy. I groan and pull her into my arms, blankets and all.

It was only moments later when I hear the familiar sound of Thor landing outside. Kaari's learned to recognize it and looks up at me with wide eyes. I rub her cheeks dry and pick her up, "Let's go see Daddy."

We rush to the door where we're greeted with by the face of a concerned Thor. He cups my cheeks and push us in, "What is it? What's wrong."

"Daddy!" Kaari exclaims reaching for him. He pulls her into his arms and hugs her close. He looks at me with wide eyes, "Y/n what's wrong?" Sighing I massage the back of my neck, "It's Kaari, she's terrified."

Thor looks down and brushes the strands that stuck to her face, "What?"

"The thunder," I explain, "you should have seen her, Thor. She's doing much better now but..." Thor sighs and walks to Karri's bedroom, I follow closely behind. 

"Karri," he sighs, "why are you afraid of thunder? Don't you know who your daddy is?"

"It's loud," she sniffles snuggling into his chest, "scary."

"Oh," Thor whispers sitting Kaari up, "but it's just noise. Love, I'm the god of thunder."

"You are?"

"Where there's a storm, I am there. All you have to do is call for me." Thor whispers to her bumping his nose against her forehead. Kaari pauses for a moment before nodding slowly, she peers up at him, "Like mommy did?"

"Exactly so," he pauses, "well, maybe a bit nicer, daddy thought either you were in trouble or he was."

Kaari giggles, Thor chuckles along with her and wipes her cheeks of any tears left. "There," he says softly, "there's no need to fear." He kisses her forehead and she giggles weakly and holds up Loki, "Him too?" Thor pauses and looks up at me with his lips pressed into a line. I chuckle and nod, he rolls his eyes but when he looks back down at her he puts on a smile and kisses the horn of Loki's plushie.

I chuckle and watch as Thor re-tucks Kaari in, "Goodnight, my love. Sleep well."

"Night Daddy," she looks over at me, "night mommy."

"Night baby," I smile at her and blow a kiss. She pretends to catch it and holds it to her chest, Kaari snuggles into her toy and shuts her eye. Thor moves to stand by me and we wait and watch as he breathing slows to a steady pace. I sigh a breath of relief and look up at him to see him watching me. 

"What?"

"Get my ass here?"

I chuckle and push him playfully, "I was worried, she was scared."

"What about now? Are you still worried?"

"No," I smile, "thank you."

"Of course," Thor grins pulling me into a hug, I wrap my arms around his back, "I take care of both of my girls."
