Manipur Earthquake: 5.2 Magnitude Quake Hits Kamjong, No Major Damage Reported
A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Kamjong district in Manipur on Tuesday morning at 5:59 AM, according to the National Centre for Seismology.
The quake originated at a depth of around 62 km, which helped limit surface impact. While tremors were felt across nearby areas, no major damage or casualties have been reported so far.
Residents briefly panicked and rushed outdoors, but conditions quickly returned to normal. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation as a precaution.
Experts note that Northeast India lies in a highly earthquake-prone zone due to ongoing tectonic plate movements, making such tremors relatively common in the region.
